Luca
uca wasn’t a patient man, but now wasn’t the time to pressure Jacey. She was a free spirit. Best to let her savor her
first taste of stardom. She’d earned it. He just didn’t intend to let her revel in it too long without thinking about
him.
He sent flowers to her at every tour stop as well as a steady stream of candid photos. They were primarily of Race,
of course, a dimpled, wriggling mass of child whose expressive features seemed designed for the camera.
Britt didn’t mind helping pose the happy babe. “I never saw a father more obsessed with capturing the perfect
picture.” That was because most fathers weren’t so determined on capturing the hearts of their wives.
As if sensing the magnitude of what was at stake, Race gurgled in his crib and smiled into the camera lens, waving
his fists.
It was his first smile!
By some miracle, Lucas’ finger had d epressed the camera’s burst button, not missing a single nuance of the
beautiful moment. Seventeen photos in all. He r eplayed them in slow motion. His heartbeat thudded as he watched
Race’s smile take shape again. Oh, yes! This one was a winner. One no heart could resist. Especially not Race’s
mother.
He and Britt finished their photo shoot with a picture of Race sle eping soundly on his bare chest. He wasn’t
normally one for taking I- love-me photos, but he’d worked hard over the years to ke ep his body in shape. If Jacey
saw something else in the photo to enjoy besides their son, well... he wasn’t above playing dirty to win the heart of
his own wife.
