Jessica said, “Sonny wired another hundred thousand dollars?"
She accepted the transfer of fifty thousand dollars on behalf of Hank.
"He sent the money to my bank account. The fifty thousand dollars on Apple Cash is just to make things convenient for us when we're out and about."
Hank kept funds on Apple Cash for daily expenses.
"We have beaches here in Wiltspoon. It's a bit of a drive from our place, but the cost won't be as high if we keep it local. I don't need new clothes. I have plenty to wear. I haven't gone through all the hand-me-downs from Sonny's aunt.
"Her clothes are good quality and high-end brands. We can never buy those kinds of clothes on our budget."
Serenity was going to get rid of her old clothes. When Hank found out, he plucked up the courage to call Serenity and ask for the clothes on behalf of Jessica. Even if the clothes were hand-me-downs, the items Serenity discarded were mostly new.
Her clothes were fine, so Jessica was not one to refuse.
In Jessica's words, many of Serenity's clothes were pieces that money could not buy. They were custom-made for Serenity by designers.
"You can still get a couple of new outfits. Seeing you only in secondhand clothes, I can't help but wonder if I made a mistake asking for the clothes from Serenity. I feel like I've failed you."
"You didn't make a mistake. I don't mind the clothes at all."
Since Jessica was not fussy about old clothes, Liberty would give some of her lightly worn clothes to Sonny to pass on. With Jessica by Hank's side, they could look out for one another while caring for Olivia and Luke.
That way, Sonny would not have to worry about Olivia and Luke being left unattended or Hank's retirement.
Liberty did so to take some pressure off Sonny as well.
"Most of the clothes that Sonny brought to me are new, since Liberty and Serenity can't wear them all. Hank, I honestly don't mind.
"You don't have to buy me new clothes. We can enjoy the beach in Wiltspoon for a week and the seafood. We don't need to spend a lot of money. Sonny works hard to earn his keep. It's not easy for him.
"We should save whatever is left over to ease Sonny's financial burden.
“Are we taking Luke and Olivia on the trip?" Jessica asked out of the blue.
She was not keen on the idea of a family trip since Olivia and Luke had been giving her the cold shoulder. Jessica did not blame them, though, since she had chased Hank and Chelsea down with a knife before. It made sense that Olivia and Luke resented her for bringing chaos to the home.
Still, Olivia and Luke were Hank's parents and Sonny's grandparents. Jessica simply asked since the elders were family.
Aware of the tension between Jessica and his folks, Hank replied, "They are too old to come along. They probably don't want to be at the beach since there is nothing for them to do.
"We'll bring them some fresh shellfish when we get back."
After a pause, he said, "If we take them, Mom isn't the type to keep her mouth shut. Chelsea will find out and bring her family along while we foot the bill.
"I'll be caught in a position whether I should pay for them or not, since the money came from Sonny. He wants us to live a little, so why are we inviting drama and making ourselves miserable?
"It'll just be the two of us. We're not taking anyone. Let's not tell Mom and Dad. I'll give Dad a call once we're on the road."
"Okay," Jessica remarked in relief.
She was happy so long as Olivia and Luke were not tagging along.
Jessica knew that Sonny was paying for their vacation because she dragged
Chelsea away from causing a scene outside the office building. It was Sonny's way of thanking her.
Liberty raised Sonny well.
If Jessica had not lost the baby, the child would be nearly thirty now.
