Ever since her release, Jessica would always think about her unborn child whenever she saw a young person. If she had not suffered a miscarriage, she would never have hit rock bottom and made one mistake after another.
She would not have served more than ten years in jail. For all she knew, she could have been released earlier and still be young enough to bond with the child. She would not have to rely on her stepson for her retirement.
Thankfully, Sonny was a child of reason. Had he been cold, vindictive, and unreasonable, he would not have just thrown her to the streets, but he might even have had her killed.
That was life.
It was also her karma.
Back then, Jessica flirted with Hank even though he had a family. She ruined someone else's marriage, only for her own to later fall apart. She worked hard to get an early release from prison for good behavior.
Otherwise, Jessica would still be behind bars.
Hank clung to their past affection and waited for her to get out of prison. He did not file for divorce when she was sentenced. He gave her a place to stay when she came out, giving her care and a second chance at life.
She knew that her future would be secure so long as she took great care of Hank and relieved Sonny of any concerns. At least, she would enjoy a life of comfort.
Meanwhile, a ride-share vehicle pulled up outside the gates of Lewis & Co. Moments later, a young woman dressed in a sleek business suit stepped out, her facial features resembling Sonny's.
After getting out of the car, the woman thanked the driver and took strides to the security booth. A security guard emerged and asked who she was there to see.
"Hello there, sir. I'm here for Sonny Brown. Is he in his office?
"Oh, my last name is Fisher. Can you pass along the message for me?"
The young lady was Jeanne, or better known as Jiggy.
She was Sonny's sister from another father.
Since Jeanne shared a resemblance with Sonny and had been polite, the security guard responded favorably and went into the booth to use the intercom.
It did not take the security guard long to get a response. He turned to Jeanne with a smile. "Mr. Brown said you can head right up, Ms. Fisher."
Jeanne expressed her gratitude to the security guard and followed him in.
The security led Jeanne to the receptionist before returning to his post.
The receptionist escorted Jeanne to the elevator, taking her straight up to the top floor. Once Jeanne was handed over to Sonny's secretary, the receptionist headed back down.
Aware of Jeanne's identity, the secretary respectfully led her to Sonny's office. He said, "Mr. Brown is glad to hear you're here, Ms. Fisher."
Jeanne grinned. “I was in Gallinger for business. Since I was close, I thought I'd drop by."
Even though Jeanne would one day lead the Fishers in Jensburg, she grew up in Wiltspoon. She often split her time between both cities. Wiltspoon was Sonny's hometown, which meant it felt like home to her, too.
The secretary smiled, understanding the reason behind her surprise visit.
He knocked on the office door and opened it for Jeanne. He walked her inside and said respectfully, "Ms. Fisher is here, sir."
Sonny dismissed the secretary.
He got up and walked toward Jeanne.
Sonny said, “Jiggy, why didn't you let me know ahead of time? I could've picked you up."
"I was in Gallinger for a business trip. Since I had a bit of time, I came to see you. "Am I interrupting anything, Sonny?"
