Lilian refused to let Noelle accompany them.
Jane had been her sister-in-law for decades. How could she not know what Lilian
was thinking?
She said, "Noelle, we won't be going far. We'll just take a drive around the area. Give us the car keys."
After hesitating for a moment, Noelle said, "I'll ask Mr. Laurence first."
Then she walked to the side, called Laurence, and spoke to him quietly for a few moments.
Laurence said, "Then let them go out. If you're really worried, you can secretly follow them with some people. Personally, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Even if Manny sent people to forcibly invite them over, the two of them would probably welcome it."
Noelle was stunned.
"Haven't you figured it out yet? The moment you said it was dangerous for them to go out and that they might get abducted, they didn't want you to come along. They're clearly trying to act as bait."
The Longbottom family did not know Lilian's true capabilities. They only knew that she was a miracle doctor with exceptional medical skills and some martial arts ability, but they had no idea just how formidable she really was.
Not only did they not know, but even her direct disciple had never truly witnessed how powerful she was. Laurence had only heard stories from Hawk and the others.
Noelle had nothing to say.
She had only intended to remind Lilian that going out without bodyguards could be dangerous. She had not expected it to play directly into Lilian's plans.
"I'm not worried about Master. I'm worried about Mommy Jane."
"You don't need to worry about that either. Mom has the entire Johnson family behind her. Even though the two cities are far apart, the Johnsons are related to the O'Connor family in Satbury. Unless Manny is a complete fool, he wouldn't dare do anything serious to Mom."
Tati O'Connor had married one of the Johnson gentlemen, so she and Jane were sisters-in-law.
Over the past twenty years, the O'Connors' position had become increasingly stable and powerful. In contrast, the Longbottom family's influence had long since declined due to the lack of a true head of the family. Manny and Tony still feared the O'Connors.
After a moment of silence, Noelle asked softly, “Mr. Laurence, are we really just letting Mommy Jane and Master go out like this?"
"Yup. Let them go out and have some fun. You can secretly follow them with a team.
If anything unexpected happens and Master tells you not to intervene, then don't intervene. They're both veterans who are far more capable than we are."
Laurence was not worried in the slightest.
Noelle fell silent, quietly ended the call, and walked back to the two elders.
Reluctantly, she handed the car keys to Jane while reminding them, "Please don't stay out too long. Come back early for dinner."
"Don't wait for us to be back for dinner. If we're out shopping, we'll definitely stop by the food street. We won't go hungry.
"Tell Laurence that if he has business engagements, he should focus on those. Business comes first. There's no need for him to rush back to eat with us. Having lunch with us was enough. The same goes for you. Go do whatever you need to do."
Jane took the keys and walked toward a vehicle parked nearby. One of the bodyguards quickly stepped forward and opened the door for them.
Noelle watched helplessly as the two women got into the car and quickly drove away.
Lilian had even told her not to follow in the shadows, claiming that the two of them could handle it even if the sky fell.
Watching the estate gates close behind them, Noelle muttered to herself, "They're not even that old yet. Why do they already feel like a pair of mischievous old children?"
Even Doc had not been this willful when he was alive.
Jane and Lilian drove away from Laurence's residence. About ten minutes later, Lilian suddenly said, "They're following us.
"They've been following us for quite a while now.
"There are countless eyes watching outside Laurence's residence. If the place didn't have such strong defenses, he wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully at night."
The people monitoring Laurence's residence only dared to watch from afar and did not dare make any real move.
Besides, they were frequently ambushed, stuffed into sacks, beaten up, and dumped back at the gates of Longbottom Villa.
