Honestly, Kaden's gaze shifted from Sonny to Heath, then back to Sonny again. It annoyed Heath and made him feel indignant on his cousin's behalf.

Sonny was far more capable than he was. Even Zachary, who clearly favored Callia, said more than once that Sonny was a business prodigy with an exceptionally sharp eye. Every project Sonny invested in had been a success.

The only thing Sonny lacked compared to him was his family background. Although Liberty was the head of the Fisher family in Jensburg, none of the Fishers' wealth or status had anything to do with him. Duncan was Sonny's stepfather, not his biological father. Still, he said he would leave half of his assets to Sonny.

In the eyes of outsiders, Sonny's family background still could not compare to that of a true scion like Heath.

However, what gave Kaden the right to look down on Sonny? In Heath's opinion, that glance from Kaden was clearly a sign of disdain toward Sonny.

The Flemmings were undoubtedly a wealthy family, but surely Kaden knew their own situation. If there was a man who sincerely wanted to build a life with Everly without being interested in the Flemmings' fortune, Kaden should have been grateful.

He had probably already looked around Clearfield and considered many men, yet failed to find anyone who genuinely wanted to be with Everly. That was why he set his sights on Sonny.

Sonny was successful and was not short of money. Once he inherited half of Duncan's assets in the future, he would become wealthy himself. He did not need to covet the Flemmings' fortune, and judging by his character, he would never do so.

That made him Kaden's ideal grandson-in-law.

Besides, the Flemming family had very few descendants. Everly was the only child of her generation. She had no siblings at all, and she was born after her father's death.

What exactly did Kaden have to be so prickly about? If Sonny was even interested in Everly, then it was already something worth celebrating, yet he had the nerve to look down on Sonny.

Heath felt that Everly was not bad. Sonny and Everly had gotten along well and had plenty to talk about. That was why he did not comment and instead chose to let things develop naturally between them.

It had been quite some time since Sonny and Everly had seen each other. Heath did not know whether they had been in contact over business matters.

The two cousins entered the house, and Sonny poured Heath a glass of water before sitting down. He said "Ms Flemming and only have a business relationship. When she and her grandfather came over, was their business partner and the host. I naturally had to treat them warmly. Don't read too much into it.

"Old Mr. Flemming has been worried about Ms. Flemming's marriage, so pretty much every young man he knows has been considered a potential grandson-in-law. I can

anxious He's getting old, and although Everly is capable, she has no siblings to help her. She has to handle everything herself.

"Her mother's relatives are also watching everything the Flemmings own. If Everly marries an incapable man, he won't be able to help her and may even become a burden. But if she finds someone capable, Old Mr Flemming will worry that he might take over the Flemmings fortune.

"Only someone who matches their social status and has a good character can truly become Everly's support, but there aren't that many men like that. That's why Old Mr. Flemming is so anxious.

"Ms. Flemming and I get along, but neither of us has any thoughts in that direction. We've only met once. Who would start thinking about something like that unless it was love at first sight? Obviously, neither of us is the type to fall in love at first sight."

Sonny had remained single until now partly because his standards were too high. A person with his status and personality would not fall for someone easily. Love at first sight was unlikely to happen to him.

Everly was no different. She was opposed to marriage and even said that she would simply have two children through IVF and raise them as her successors. She did not need a husband.

That way, she would not have to worry about marrying a man who might covet the Flemmings' fortune.

"Sonny, since you're going to Clearfield on a business trip, you can ask Ms. Flemming out for dinner."

Sonny replied, "I'm going there to handle matters concerning our partnership with Flemming Group. I don't need to ask her out. She's the one treating me to dinner."

Heath grinned. "Spending a week together might help you discover even more of her good qualities.”

Sonny was silent for a moment before saying, "I'm not opposed to love knocking on my door. For now, among all the young women I've met, Everly is definitely the one I get along with best."
