Sonny checked the time, then said, "We can head over now."
After lunch, he would head to the office, rest for a half hour, then get back to work early so he could try to finish everything before knocking off for the day.
Then, he could squeeze out a bit of time on Saturday to get Everly to be his free tour guide. After she returned the favor he had shown her when he hosted her the last time, she would stop feeling like she owed him.
He had to fly back to Wiltspoon on Sunday morning because he had a meeting on Monday. That same afternoon he would be flying to Havenmill.
"Sure."
Everly stood up.
The two of them walked out of the office together.
Penny glanced at them a couple of times.
Everly had asked her public relations department to publish a clarification statement,
but just a few hours later, she was treating Sonny to a meal. Their public appearance together again probably rendered that statement useless now.
People would continue mistaking them for a couple.
At Clearfield Hotel, the duo once again ran into Nate Tatum.
He waited at the Hotel, knowing that Everly went there every day to eat. If he waited there, he would definitely catch her.
If he went to the Flemming Group office, even if he managed to spot Everly leaving, she would be in her car, and it would not stop. There was no use waiting there.
This was not the case at Clearfield Hotel because Everly had to enter the hotel to eat, which was the only way he could chat with her.
Once again, Nate was carrying a bouquet of flowers today and waiting at the entrance to the hotel. At the sight of Everly's car approaching, he hurriedly straightened himself, tugging at his suit.
Before he left his house, he checked his appearance a few times in the mirror to make sure he looked good.
Everly had clearly refused to go on a blind date with him and had even tattled on him to his father, Andy. Andy had dragged him home and raked him over the coals, who also told him that the blind date with Everly was called off.
At first, Nate was not interested in Everly. He was only interested in the Flemming assets, but seeing Sonny by Everly's side that day had really gotten under his skin. Even though Andy said the blind date with Everly was off, he still wanted to come. He was going to officially pursue Everly and was determined to win her over. Sure, he was not as handsome as Sonny, nor was he as rich, but he had an advantage over Sonny in one aspect. He was a Clearfield local.
It was not like Sonny would be in Clearfield every day. He only came over a few days at a time on business trips and would leave once his business was done. Everly was busy with work, so there was no way she would go to Wiktspoon. So once Sonny was back in Wiltspoon, Nate could court Everly every day.
They all said even the most resolute woman could not resist a persistent suitor. As long as he showed his sincerity, he would eventually Win Everly over. Steven Zeller would help him and take his side.
He had to fight for his own happiness and for the Flemmings' considerable assets too.
Even if Everly was smart enough to make sure they signed a prenup, as long as he became the father of her child, he would not have to worry materially for the rest of his life.
Then, once Flemming Group was handed over to his child, he would be the father of the successor.
Dreaming his pleasant dream, when Nate saw Everly get out of the car, he walked over to her with the bouquet in his arms, a smile he thought was handsome blooming on his face.
He did not expect Sonny to get out of the car too.
Everly waited for Sonny after getting out of the car. The two of them were together again.
Nate's smile froze and so did his feet.
Why were they together again?
Had Flemming Group not published that statement this morning?
Everly and Sonny were just working together. They were not lovers. They only attended the banquet together last night because Old Mr. Flemming begged Sonny to attend on his behalf, and Sonny had no choice but to agree.
Their relationship really was not what people thought it was.
Nate remembered that Everly had said before that Sonny was just her client and an important guest of Flemming Group.
