Claire glanced at Yolande. "Yolande, is Seb really that free during his senior year?"

How did he have the time to bake cakes all night? Why wasn't anyone stopping him?

"His grades are pretty solid," Yolande offered, the only explanation she could muster.

God only knew where her brother found the time for all this.

That was the thing about straight-A students-they had too much free time.

Seb's grades weren't necessarily at the absolute top of his class, but getting into a prestigious university was a given.

It was just that the guy had been rebelling against his mother lately, which resulted in a massive surge in his baking sessions.

"Seb swapped out some of the desserts on the table today for his own creations," Yolande whispered to Claire.

"Pfft..." Claire couldn't hold back a laugh. "Are the desserts even safe to eat later?"

If someone accidentally picked one of Seb's, wouldn't it be a disaster?

"They should be edible. Just avoid the ones that look too perfect," Yolande said, speaking from bitter experience.

She couldn't help it; she had fallen for her little brother's pranks way too many times. While the two were whispering, someone nearby let out a sharp gasp.

Claire and Yolande turned their heads in unison, spotting a young woman holding a small cake.

She looked like an employee of the company.

"What's wrong?" someone asked her.

The woman hesitated for three seconds before pointing at her plate. "Nothing. This cake is just really good."

The person who asked looked skeptical. "Let me try?"

He grabbed an identical piece and took a bite. "Wow, you're right. It's not too sweet, very refreshing."

This male colleague usually hated sweets, but he genuinely found the flavor fantastic.

"Huh, you actually like sour things?" The female colleague frowned. They had picked the exact same type.

Why was hers so sour it made her eyes water, while he was eating his with such relish?

"It's alright, not too sour..."

Wait a minute, why was it getting more sour the more he chewed?

The guy felt like his teeth were dissolving.

"I..."

The male colleague silently passed on the message that the cake was "delicious" to the next unsuspecting victim.

Claire and Yolande, who witnessed the entire exchange: "..."

This company was too new; the workplace dynamics clearly needed some work.

Or maybe they were a little too harmonious.

Otherwise, how could one person scam the next without anyone getting mad?

Claire hadn't gone over to greet Owen yet, simply because he was completely swarmed.

Yesterday he was just another wealthy playboy of the Churchill family but today, he had instantly transformed into a rising stain the business world.

Well, a future rising star, anyway.

Right now, everyone was just investing in his potential.

Many people wanted to pour money into Owen's new company, not necessarily because they expected Luminate to make millions wght away.

What they were really banking on was the Churchill family backing him.

If they could use this opportunity to build ties with the Churchills, they would never have to worry about a thing.

The Churchill family would naturally provide a safety net for their own.

Even if the business took a hit, how bad could it really get?

Claire amused herself and soon spotted Oakley and Sienna.

They were the only two celebrities from the entertainment industry attending tonight.

The celebration didn't have a massive guest list, but there were definitely people who recognized them.

Most people flocked to Oakley for autographs, leaving Sienna looking a bit isolated.

Coupled with the fact that she was

in a wheelchair and had limited mobility she simply found a quiet comer to stay out of the way.

"Yolande, I'm going to go see a friend."

Claire let Yolande know, and the older girl waved a hand in acknowledgment.

Yolande was a fish in water at these kinds of social events; she didn't need anyone to keep her company.

In fact, she had only stuck around because she worried Claire might feel out of place.

Yolande didn't even ask who Claire's friend was.

This was Owen's celebration, so it wasn't like anyone was going to cause trouble. Claire walked toward Sienna, who was bored out of her mind scrolling on her phone.
