Seeing Claire, her eyes lit up.
"Sienna," Claire greeted, smoothly signaling a waiter to bring Sienna a glass of warm water.
She also brought her a small cake.
"You can try a little bit of this."
Sienna was actively undergoing physical therapy now. She didn't need to attend events or shoot movies.
Having a tiny bit of frosting wouldn't hurt.
Sienna felt a surge of eagerness. No one was micromanaging her diet right now; what was wrong with a little dessert?
What girl didn't love sweets?
She used to think she didn't like them, mostly because she knew those beautiful cakes in the bakery windows would never be hers on her birthday.
But when her little brother's birthday rolled around, if he threw a tantrum for one, her parents would buy it without hesitation.
And even then, her brother would eat the whole thing himself. Sienna never got a single bite.
If she so much as glanced at it for too long, she would get screamed at.
They would accuse her of trying to steal from her brother.
They'd say she was a glutton who would never find a husband when she grew up.
They even called her a starving ghost reincarnated.
All sorts of vile insults flashed through her mind, but Sienna eventually pushed them away.
It wasn't until she started working with Karla that she realized girls were allowed to enjoy nice things too.
Her tradition became rewarding herself with a small slice of cake after wrapping up every project.
Still, she was terrified of gaining weight, deathly afraid that if she lost her figure, the roles would dry up.
Having tasted the sweet relief of making her own money, Sienna was constantly terrified of losing her career.
She couldn't bear the thought of not being able to provide for herself.
Because of that, every single production crew Sienna worked with praised her relentless work ethic.
"This matcha cake looks incredible..." Sienna scooped up a spoonful and took a bite.
Before she could even finish her sentence, she started spitting it out.
"Ugh, cough... is this mustard?"
Matcha and mustard looked similar, but the taste was a whole different universe!
"Who makes a cake out of mustard?!"
What kind of psychotic flavor was this?
This was an abomination!
"No way?" Claire had grabbed that specific cake for Sienna because she had tried one earlier, and it was a delicious matcha flavor.
Who could have guessed the piece she handed Sienna was spiked with mustard?
Obviously, Seb had swapped it out.
"I'm so sorry, Sienna. This is
probably my cousin's prank. He loves baking cursed desserts, and the worst part is, he's actually really good at it."
"Except for the taste, everything else is flawless."
"When I had this one earlier, it definitely didn't taste like that."
Sienna hadn't expected Claire to have a cousin like that.
She didn't know much about Karla's extended network, but since he was,
essentially family to Karahas
couldn't exactly hold a grudge.
Besides, it was just a harmless prank.
She just couldn't handle the kick of the mustard; it wasn't like she had been poisoned.
"He probably only swapped a small portion of them. Let me go grab you a different one."
Sienna hesitated for a second. "I want to go get one myself."
Before Claire could even respond, Sienna quickly explained.
"Claire, it's not that I don't trust you. I'm just really curious to see if this is a luck issue."
"Alright, go pick one."
Claire understood. It was classic gambler's mentality.
However, she was also quite curious about Sienna's luck.
If you said she was lucky, her life had started in sheer nightmare mode.
If you said she was unlucky, she managed to grow up safely in a deeply
misogynistic family and eventually met a mentor like Karla.
If you said she was lucky, she got targeted on set, fell, and was nearly paralyzed.
If you said she was unlucky, she ended up crossing paths with Claire, who at the very least was helping her stand on her own two feet again.
