Just as Tiffany was about to leave, General Darwin called out to her.
"Wait!"
Tiffany stopped in her tracks, assuming the old man had changed his mind, and turned to look at him.
But General Darwin looked at Claire instead.
"Claire, could you please check this young woman's pulse and see how her health is holding up? She looks incredibly pale and exhausted. I'm worried it might affect her pregnancy."
Completely unaware of the trap being laid, Tiffany assumed the old man was genuinely concerned about the baby in her womb and tilted her chin up triumphantly.
"I haven't been feeling well lately because of the pregnancy. I throw up everything I eat, and I don't have anyone to take care of me."
"It would be best if you could hire a nanny to handle my daily needs and move me into a much bigger house. Being comfortable is crucial for the baby's development."
It wasn't that Tiffany was completely stupid; she knew she couldn't step foot inside the Darwin family estate just yet.
So, she didn't demand to move in with them.
But you couldn't call her smart either, considering she was already pushing her luck with these outrageous demands.
Did she seriously believe General Darwin was offering medical attention out of the goodness of his heart, just to protect her baby?
Claire didn't bother exposing her delusion. She simply smiled. "I don't specialize in obstetrics."
"That's fine. I know practitioners of traditional medicine are well-versed in everything. doctor said you're highly skilled, so checking my pulse shouldn't be a problem at all."
Since General Darwin had already made the request, what else could Claire do? She walked over to check Tiffany's pulse.
Though Tiffany cooperated, she couldn't hide her skepticism. "Aren't you a bit too young to be a doctor? You look like a college student who hasn't even graduated."
Claire flashed a slightly wicked grin. "I'm actually just a college freshman."
"How is that possible?" Tiffany had only questioned her youth to cast doubt on her skills.
She absolutely refused to believe Claire was only a freshman.
This girl was treating a high-ranking VIP; there was no way they'd let a student do that.
Unless the people in charge secretly wanted General Darwin dead.
Which was obviously impossible.
"Why wouldn't it be possible?" Claire held her wrist firmly. "Stop moving."
"Your pulse is normal, just a bit weak. The malnutrition is caused by morning
sickness. You'll be fine as long as you eat more."
"Get plenty of rest, eat well, and don't stress."
"How is the baby? Do I need to be put on bed rest?"
Seeing that Claire's diagnosis perfectly matched her symptoms, Tiffany reluctantly believed her.
"Your pulse is on the weaker side.
You're barely over two months along. (you keep causing a scene and exhausting yourself, you might lose the baby."
Barely two months... That matched the timeline of when General Darwin had been admitted to the hospital.
This baby really could be Reggie's.
"Do I need to take any medication?" Tiffany persistently asked about securing the pregnancy.
Claire glanced at her. "Not for now. Just follow my instructions."
The fate of this child hadn't even been decided yet.
There was a real chance that preserving the pregnancy wouldn't be necessary at all.
As a medical professional, Claire was being entirely objective and perhaps a bit cold-blooded in that moment.
She wasn't considering the patient's emotional perspective at all.
She was simply stating the facts.
After all, she had no idea if this woman actually wanted the baby or if she only cared about the financial leverage the child provided Content-
For someone like that, Claire only pitied the unborn child; she felt absolutely zero sympathy for the mother.
"You may leave now," General Darwin said, waving Tiffany off.
Tiffany wanted to argue her case further, but Noah Darwin firmly escorted her out of the room.
With two security guards stationed outside, there was no way she could force her way back in.
General Darwin then turned his attention back to Claire. "Claire, what is the actual truth about her condition?"
Claire had spoken nothing but the truth earlier, so there wasn't much left to hide.
"If she continues to push her body to the limit, the baby absolutely won't makes the biological material was, incredibly weak to begin with so the fact that it even took root is nothing short of a miracle."
