General Darwin's mouth twitched. He understood exactly what the young woman meant.
Reggie's biological material was defective, which meant the baby's foundation was flawed. This pregnancy was a rare stroke of luck.
If he had known earlier, he would have asked Claire to check Reggie's pulse too.
Unfortunately, that cowardly brat had already fled the wedding.
Beside him, Yolanda listened with intense focus. "Claire, if Reggie's material is that weak, does that mean it's extremely difficult for him to get a woman pregnant?"
Claire couldn't give a definitive guarantee. "Theoretically, yes."
Claire didn't have any ulterior motives; she was merely explaining the medical reason behind Tiffany's fragile pregnancy.
But both Yolanda and General Darwin possessed very active imaginations.
Yolanda immediately volunteered, "General Darwin, why don't we keep this baby? If Reggie can never have another child, wouldn't he end up with no one to read his eulogy when he passes?"
General Darwin winced inwardly. *Silly girl, you really don't need to love him this much.*
If his grandson remained childless, then so be it. General Darwin couldn't care less at this point.
But it was still the Darwin family bloodline. What if this child turned out to be decent?
He didn't dare take the risk either.
However, his overwhelming sense of guilt toward Yolanda and his old war buddies in the Hamilton family only deepened.
How did they raise such an incredibly understanding daughter?
How could he possibly cast his pride aside and convince the Hamiltons to agree to this?
Even if he handed over all of the Darwin family's resources, it wouldn't be enough to compensate them for sacrificing their daughter.
"Yolanda, you need to think this through very carefully."
"If you genuinely commit to raising Reggie's child, the rest of your life will be ruined." General Darwin naturally assumed Yolanda intended to raise the baby herself.
But Yolanda shook her head. "I have thought it through. Reggie didn't want to come back, but maybe that's because he doesn't know about the baby yet."
"What if he finds out and actually wants to come home?"
"I don't want to cause a permanent rift between us. We should keep the baby. As for the nurse..."
Hearing Yolanda's unyielding determination, General Darwin waved his hand decisively. "Leave her to me. I will handle it."
"You don't need to give her a single dime."
"If you're going to raise that child, it's best if you never see her again."
"Otherwise, if she latches onto you, it'll be a never-ending nightmare."
Yolanda naturally understood the logic behind his words. "Alright. I'll follow your lead, General Darwin."
General Darwin was incredibly moved, his eyes welling with unsbed tears. "If you were a daughter of the Darwin family swear would have tossed Reggie out onto the streets long ago."
A grandson who caused nothing but destruction wasn't worth keeping.
But a granddaughter like this? If she stayed, she could elevate the Darwin family to entirely new heights.
Claire had zero interest in listening to the scandalous secrets of the elite.
She couldn't fathom why Yolanda was so desperate to claim the baby.
But she was about to find out exactly why.
"Claire, I heard your medical skills are phenomenal. Could you take a look at me? Is
my condition still treatable?"
"I'm afraid traditional medicine might not be enough."
"Haven't you seen a specialist before?"
"If you had sought treatment earlier, it could have been managed."
"I..." Yolanda had been too young to
understand it at first, and later, here relentless boxing training had els
delayed her window for treatment
On top of that, she had gone through a period of severe bullying.
A group of girls had found out she hadn't started her period.
The sheer humiliation had stripped her of the courage to seek medical help.
Now that she wanted to seek treatment, it felt like it was too late.
Carrying a heavy emotional burden, she was terrified of running into someone she knew and didn't dare have the surgery in Cabinda
Knowing Claire practiced traditional medicine, she wanted to see if there was a non-
surgical alternative to resolve her problem.
