Chapter 143
ROMAN-
Game night was already a bad idea.
The first game was guessing what the other person was acting out. I got paired with Tessa. I could not concentrate. Olivia was on the other couch in a tiny red bikini that matched her hair, blue eyes looking brighter than usual, a towel slung around her hips.
Every time Tessa pointed at me I was looking at her sister. Those lips. Soft. Still faintly swollen if I let myself imagine it. The mouth that had been around my cock a few hours ago.
I could still feel it. Then my eyes dropped. Red triangles. The same crime as the black ones, different color, same problem. Her breasts sat in that top like the fabric could not hold it together. Flat stomach. Soft. Bare. A spot I wanted to put my mouth on.
I did not understand what was happening. I could not focus on the game. Not even for a second.
Tessa missed three rounds and turned to face me.
“I am never choosing you again. You are cursed. First volleyball, now this. Look at my hands. Not at-” She followed my line of sight, frowned, then yelled at the ceiling. “Useless. He is broken.
Someone fix him.”
Ethan laughed loudly. Caleb offered to replace me. “I can do charades better.”
I muttered that I was fine.
I was not fine.
Red hair. Red bikini. That stomach every time she laughed and the towel slipped. I felt like someone had put a spell on me. My focus was gone. It was like someone had unplugged the part of my brain that did games and left only Olivia Monroe in a bikini.
They eventually got bored and decided on spin the bottle.
With truth or dare.
| Dangerous. I knew it as soon as the bottle hit the table. Too many people who knew too much, and one
secret that would end the room.
I sat back and tried to look at the bottle. I looked at her mouth instead. Then the top. Then the strip of skin above the towel. Frustration burned within. I had released in her mouth and I still wanted more. I had said just kissing and I was sitting here hard under the table because she existed.
The bottle landed on Blair. Ethan grinned like a man about to stir up drama.
“Do you still think about Chase?”
Olivia gasped. “Why would you bring up that asshole’s name?”

Grayson went still, then pissed. The kind of pissed that used to end fighting on the ice.
han laughed, “I asked to see Grayson’s face.”
Grayson’s voice came out flat. “You’re lucky you’re my brother-in-law.”
Blair rolled her eyes. “I do not think about him at all. The best thing that ever happened to me was
Grayson.”
The table did the usual aww. Grayson’s jaw eased a bit.
Olivia had leaned forward when she snapped at Ethan and the bikini top shifted and I lost the next ten seconds of conversation.
The bottle was already moving again.
It landed on Olivia.
Tessa leaned in, delighted. “Is there anyone you’re interested in right now?”
Olivia blushed.
Her eyes came to me.
I held my breath.
The room narrowed to her mouth.
“Yes,” she said.
Ethan looked irritated immediately. “It better not be fucking Luca. I have a fist waiting to connect with his face.”
Olivia did not correct him. She did not look away from me fast enough. Blair kicked her under the table. I could tell based on both their reactions and Olivia saying ouch then glaring at her sister.
Then the game continued, until Ethan had the bottle again.
I stared at the bottle like it might save my life. She had said yes while looking at me. After the shower. After the deal. After I had refused to come to this house and then come anyway.

It spun.
1
It landed on me.
Ethan, still pleased with himself, asked, “Do you see yourself marrying Eden?”
I froze.
What the fuck kind of question was that?
Frustration hit me so hard I almost stood up.

The Hockey Captam’s Unwanted Wife
Marry Eden. The woman I had forgotten existed until he said her name earlier. The PR date I had skipped to drive here. He asked it like a joke. Like a friendly poke. He had no idea I had spent the afternoon with Asister on her knees.
I glared at him. He looked proud. Then I looked at Olivia.
She was upset. Blue eyes gone sharp. Red hair falling over her shoulder. Waiting.
If I said no, she would take it as an invitation to my room tonight. After the shower, that was not something I could risk happening. If I said yes, I would watch her face break in front of her whole family
There was no winning.
The table watched. Tessa leaned in. Caleb made a drumroll with his fingers. Blair’s amusement had gone careful.
“Dare,” I said.
Everyone protested.
“You cannot just—”
“That is not how it works-”
“Coward-”
Ethan sighed, then smiled. “Fine. I dare you to sleep outside in the sand tonight.”
That asshole.
“Fuck you. And you call yourself my best friend.”
“Those are the rules we all agreed on. You’re the one that chose dare instead of answering a simple question.”
Tessa clapped. “He will be one with the mosquitoes tonight. How romantic.”
Caleb already had a joke about me getting carried off by crabs.
Blair looked between me and Olivia like she was watching a building crack. Olivia’s mouth was tight. She had wanted the truth. I had taken a night in the beach instead.
I stood up before I said something worse. Before I said not in this lifetime and let Olivia confirm that I didn’t want Eden.
“I’ll take the sand.”
Ethan laughed and told me not to come crying at two in the morning.
I went to get a blanket with Olivia’s eyes on my back and Eden’s name still hanging over the table like a trap I had refused to step in.
Marry Eden.

The Mockey Captain’s Unwanted Wife
Not in this lifetime.
ust could not say that in a room where the girl in the red bikini already knew how I sounded when I care in her mouth.
Outside, the air was cooler. I dropped the blanket on the sand and did not go back in.
I had stared at her the entire game like a man with no training and no sense.
I still saw her mouth around my cock. That image did not want to leave me.
I still saw that flat stomach.
I still heard yes when Tessa asked if there was someone she was interested in.
Sand it was.
I was not going to last the weekend.
I already knew I would lie on that beach and think about her until the sun came up.
