Chapter 148
-LIVIA-
I woke up giddy.
Last night stayed in my body like heat that would not leave.
Roman in my room. His mouth everywhere. His fingers and tongue inside me. Then the warm slide of his cock against my entrance, never in, close enough that I had begged for more.
He had made it sound like it was not over. Like we could keep doing that. As long as it was not sex.
I knew I could change that rule eventually. I knew if I pushed just a little more, I would get him to finally give into what we both wanted and needed.
However, I would do it at the right time. I wanted to enjoy every second with Roman. I didn’t want to waste a single experience.
I went downstairs with that hope still in my chest.
I needed coffee and sun.
I felt marked in a way no one else could see. Don’t ever think I don’t want you. I blushed at the reminder of his words.
His rule still hurt but felt like a door left cracked.
Blair took one look at me over her tea and pointed.
“You are glowing. Spill.”
I opened my mouth to tell her everything. I was excited to spill it all.
But then the doorbell rang. Distracting both of us.
Who could it be? We weren’t expecting anyone.
Ethan got there first.
He smiled. “Eden. Come on in. We weren’t expecting you.”
Blair and I froze.
Eden?
No way. That wasn’t possible.
Yet there she was standing in front of us.
I did not understand.
I refused to believe Roman would invite her here after last night. He would not do that. He wasn’t like that.

Or maybe he was. I wasn’t sure at this point.
What is she doing here?” Blair hissed under her breath.
I could not answer. My giddy mood dropped through the floor so fast I felt sick.
Roman walked in from the hall, saw her, and frowned.
He looked shocked. The kind of look that said this was not his plan.
“What are you doing here?”

Eden’s smile was bright and sharp. “Your parents told me I could find you here. Funny you didn’t invite
me.”
So he didn’t invite her. She just decided to show up?
Ethan frowned. “I mentioned she could come as well. Why didn’t you invite your girl?”
Eden looked at Roman with a fake sweetness that made my stomach drop.
The two of them walked off toward the deck.
From the kitchen it looked like an argument. Low voices. Her hand movements. His clenched jaw.
I felt sick watching them.
Eden was in the beach house. Ugh. Why?
Why now? Especially after last night.
Blair’s fingers found my wrist. “Breathe.”
“He didn’t know,” I whispered. “You saw his face.”
“I saw his face. It was definitely a surprise visit.” Blair kept her voice down. “It also seems like his parents had something to do with it.”
I wanted to go onto that deck and ask her what she thought she was doing in my family’s house.
I wanted last night back. I wanted the empty house and his stupid rule that was meant to be broken and not this woman who wanted him.
“I was going to tell you,” I said to Blair. “About last night. He came to my room. He said we could touch. Just not-” I stopped. Ethan was still near us.
Blair’s eyes widened, then softened with something like pity. “And now she is on the deck. About to spoil
your moment.”
“Just don’t make a scene because of it. He genuinely looked surprised to see her here. It was not his intention.” She added.
I knew that.

It did not help.

tood there with the feeling of last night still between my legs and watched Roman argue with the woman waiting for a proposal from him.
His shoulders were tight. He was not touching her. He was not smiling. That should have been enough. It was not enough. She was here. In the same air I had woken up giddy in.
Eden laughed once, too loud.
Roman did not.
Ethan drifted toward the kitchen, frowning. “Did you two know she was coming?”
“No,” Blair said.
“No,” I said, and it came out too sharp.
Ethan held up his hands. “Are you on your period? You seem to be in a mood.”
I sent a bottle his way and he winced as it hit his back.
“Yep. Period.”
I turned away from the window before I did something stupid in a room full of family.
“I hate this,” I whispered. “I don’t want her here. Roman was finally starting to open up to me.”
“I know.” Blair poured more coffee I would not drink. “Just take deep breaths. I am sure that he will find a way to send her back home.”
“I want her gone.”
“So does he, if that frown meant anything.” Blair bumped my shoulder. “Cheer up, sister. You had Roman in your bed last night. Something you never thought was possible.”
It was true. While it did make me feel better, I was still very annoyed.
I could not finish the coffee.
She was here and I could tell she was about to stir up some trouble.
