Chapter 173

The announcement happened anyway. Despite all of us trying to stop the wedding.

Nothing had worked. Yet.

We were working on it. In the meantime we had to pretend we were going along with everything.

The Shaw house was full of flowers, food and cameras.

Ivy was there.

I was properly introduced this time. She was a quiet, pretty girl.

She said hello with a soft, shy smile. I could tell there was something between them. Her and Nico. I didn’t need to be a genius to see it.

She was their adopted sister. Which wouldn’t exactly make it weird. Though, I could see how anything between the two of them could make things awkward for the Shaw family.

Nico was not his usual annoying self around her. No stupid jokes. No grinning at my expense. He went serious. Protective. He poured her water before she asked. He blocked a cousin who stood too close. When his father started talking about alliances, Nico’s eyes went to Ivy first, not to me.

Then we all gathered for the speeches around a large table. I sat next to Roman, ignoring the glare from my father. And Nico also chose to sit next to Ivy.

William Monroe stood with a glass and made his speech. I felt sick.

He mentioned that it was a good match and that our families were already joined through Blair and Grayson.

I kept my face still. But under the table, Roman’s hand parted my knees.

I almost dropped my water.

He pulled my underwear down like the room was empty.

I stared at the floral centerpiece and tried not to make a sound while my father talked about photographs and dinners and all the fun stuff he had planned.

“This union,” Dad said with a bright smile, “represents success and stability. Two powerful families joining for a second time.”

Roman’s fingers slid higher. I bit the inside of my cheek. Ethan was two seats down, nodding like a man who still thought this was about reputation.

Nico was across from me looking like he wanted to be in Monaco, or under the table, or anywhere but here. Ivy watched her plate like she was in pain.

“And Nico,” Dad continued, “has the discipline of a champion and the character of a Shaw. He will make a

great son-in-law, just like his very successful brother.”

co’s smile was forced as everyone in the room turned to look at him.

Roman chose that exact second to press two fingers into me and I had to turn a gasp into a cough.

Blair glanced over. I drank water as if it could save me.

“Olivia,” Dad said, and I wanted the floor to open, “has always been a wonderful daughter. She will make an even better wife.”

Roman’s fingers started pumping inside me.

I grabbed his wrist.

He did not stop. Faster. Faster. Harder.

My father said honor and Roman rubbed my clit with his thumb like honor was a joke.

I stared at a rose so hard I thought I might memorize the petals.

Sweat gathered at the back of my neck. I was going to come at my own wedding announcement if he did not stop, and the worst part was I did not want him to stop.

Richard Shaw stood next and made it worse.

He talked about a second marriage to bind what the first had started. Someone clapped. Roman added a third stroke that made my thighs shake under the table.

I kicked his ankle. He did not even look at me.

His jaw was tight, jealous, focused, the same look he had worn when Ethan talked about the wedding to him.

I stood before I made a sound that was not applause.

I could not do this here or I would scream from the pleasure.

We left separately and still ended up in the same downstairs bathroom, lock clicking, his mouth on mine before I could whisper that this was insane.

It was insane.

It was also the only thing in the house that kept me alive.

He lifted me onto the counter, pushed my dress up, and thrust into me in one hard stroke. I gasped against his neck.

He fucked me like the announcement had personally offended him, like he needed to remind me that I was still his. That I did not belong to any other man.

“You will never belong to another man,” he said against my mouth, still moving his cock in and out of me. “Say it. You’re mine. Scream it.”

“I’m yours.” It came out broken.

Douder.”

“I’m yours Roman!” I screamed.

I bit his shoulder, then said it again when he drove deeper.

“Yours.”

He groaned and held my hips and made the mirror shake. I came with my heels at his back, clenching around him, the speech still continuing somewhere down the hall.

His release was much stronger as he roared, “FUCKKKK!”

His body started shaking in response.

We stayed there a second, unable to move.

“Ivy saw us leave,” I whispered. “I think she has an idea.”

Roman’s jaw tightened. “Nico will keep her quiet if he wants out of this. Maybe he’s the one that told her. I wouldn’t be surprised.”

I fixed my dress. My legs were still shaking.

I walked back to the table with Roman’s claim still between my thighs and Nico Shaw sitting next to his adopted sister looking at her like she was the one he wanted to marry.

How messed up was this?
