Chapter 174
LIVIA-
Three weeks had passed.
We had failed to get our families to stop the wedding.
Announcements had gone out. Dinners had been made. Now I was in a white dress I did not choose, on a lawn I did not want, taking pre-wedding photos with Nico Shaw.
The photographer said, “Closer.”
I shoved Nico’s hand off my waist.
He shoved mine off his wrist.
I elbowed him in the ribs when he tried to angle toward my face. He muttered that I had bones so hard they could be used as weapons.
I told him to stand like a man. The photographer kept saying beautiful in a voice that said he was a good
liar.
“Closer,” the man said again.
Nico put his hand back. I pulled it off. We smiled with our teeth. Someone from my father’s office clapped like that counted.
Nico growled under the smile. “I thought we had a way out of this already.”
“Well,” I said through my teeth, “maybe if you had helped a bit it would have sped up. You left for Monaco and only just returned, leaving everything to the rest of us. Good job.”
He sighed. “Do I have to do everything myself?”
“You did nothing.” I reminded him. “How about actually do something before I become your wife?”
“That will be the end of my life.”
“Chin up,” the photographer sang.
I lifted my chin and felt like everything around me was starting to spin.
Okay. What was that?
It came fast. No warning. Heat, then cold, then a weird feeling in my stomach like I was about to be sick. I did not have time to prepare as I turned and puked all over Nico’s suit.
He froze. I could see the look of horror on his face as he realized what I’d just done.
He slowly looked down. Then groaned like he couldn’t believe it.
When he was done worrying about all the vomit on his clothes, he suddenly realized I was not feeling well,

She took me by the arm and hauled me inside before anyone else could talk to me. I heard Nico behind us telling the photographer to stop shooting and remove any pictures of me puking.
In the bathroom my sister shut the door. She looked excited for some reason.
Why would she be excited about me puking all over Nico?
“Time I returned the favor.” She held out a pregnancy stick like a gift.
I frowned at her. Did she just carry around a pregnancy stick waiting for a moment like this?
“You made me take one. Remember? You stood over me like a detective the entire time. Now it is my turn. I hope you’re ready.”
I narrowed my eyes. “You are enjoying this.”
“A little. I am also terrified with everything going on. So pee!”
“Blair.”
“Pee. I have a baby in me and now I have these weird instincts and could tell when someone is pregnant. So go in now! Pee on the stick Olivia!”
I took the test because the alternative was arguing while I felt like puking again.
Blair invaded my privacy in the bathroom like I owed her this after my reaction when she’d gotten pregnant a while back.
“What is it?” she asked looking over my shoulder after I’d finished peeing on it.
“You cannot just-”
“I can. I am your sister. You did this to me. Turn it over,”
I waited. The longest minute of my life. It felt like ten minutes had passed when I finally turned it over slowly.
I gasped.
Two lines. Clear. Impossible and obvious at the same time.
Blair’s hand flew to her mouth, then she started laughing and crying in the same breath. “Oh my goodness. Olivia. I am so happy. I am going to pass out. I cannot believe it. You have joined me! Our babies will be best friends. I need to scream but I cannot yet. This is killing me inside!”
I sat on the closed lid with the stick in my fingers suddenly reminded that a wedding was still dated on a calendar and now I was pregnant with Roman’s baby.
What would his reaction be? Would he be happy? We hadn’t exactly used any protection. We had been reckless, and I don’t think either of us was really considering that I could get pregnant. We were just glad

that it was finally happening.
e’d done it more times than I could count in the past weeks. I blushed at that reminder.
I was having a baby.
Roman’s baby.
I could not speak.
I just stared at the test like it might change if I asked nicely.
It did not.
But it wasn’t like this was a bad thing. The timing was just a bit off. But we could work with it.
Blair crouched in front of me, still laughing, still crying, both hands on my knees. “We tell Roman. Well, you tell Roman. Then if you’re okay with it, I really need to tell Grayson. I’m just so happy I’m not in this alone anymore. You have no idea!”
I nodded, still unable to find my voice even though my sister was clearly having a great time with this news. I was sure I would soon join her once the initial shock wore off.
We were having a baby. This was actually happening. I could not believe it.
