Chapter 175
THAN-
Dad asked me to check on Olivia after finding out she had thrown up on Nico during the photoshoot.
Part of me wondered if she’d done it intentionally. The two of them could not get along to save their lives.
Her door was open and I walked in without calling for her. She wasn’t in the room but the bathroom door was cracked.
I lifted my hand to knock and stopped when I heard voices.
Olivia’s voice came through first, she sounded like she was in shock.
“I’m pregnant, Blair.” She gasped. “This is insane to me. I knew we never used any protection but to get pregnant this quickly. We only just started sleeping together. Three weeks ago to be exact.”
I froze.
Did that asshole Luca get my sister fucking pregnant? I was going to lose my mind. She told me and everyone else that nothing happened with him. Did she lie?
“When are you going to tell Roman?”
I froze.
What the fuck would her being pregnant have to do with Roman? He was my best friend. He had nothing to do with her getting pregnant.
Unless.
No.
Couldn’t be. I pushed that thought out of my head.
Roman would not do that. He knew better than to mess around with my sister. He ate at our table for years and always respected our friendship. He sat in our kitchen. He brought her home from tracks and hotels and I thanked him for it.
He wouldn’t betray me like that. He was like my brother.
I continued to listen anyway, like an idiot.
Blair said his name again. Olivia said she could not tell him at a photoshoot wearing a wedding dress with Nico in a suit on the lawn. She said he would lose his mind, especially since she hadn’t told him about today. To spare his feelings.
Then Olivia said the baby was his. Not Nico’s. Not Luca’s.
Roman’s.
I felt dizzy. Like everything around me was beginning to spin.

Everything after that arrived in a rush that felt like being hit from behind.

was all beginning to make sense now. Everything that happened recently made a lot of fucking sense.
Why he had followed her to the hotel the night of the game.
Why he had known Charlotte was in the suite.
Why Olivia had even gone to that hotel with Luca in the first place-because she had watched an interview with Roman and another woman.
She had acted out. And he had followed her not as my friend doing me a favor but as a man who had already crossed a line I had never thought to guard.
It explained why he had gotten so angry in the driveway when I was arguing with her about her actions, telling me to lay off her like he had a claim I could not see.
Why he had gone rigid at the track when I told him dad was marrying her to Nico Shaw, why he had left his beer on the rail and driven away from me mid-race with a face like he had swallowed glass. I had asked if he was all right. I had believed the shrug.
Fuck. I had been so stupid.
No. That was the wrong word. I had trusted my friend completely. I had handed him every messy part of this family except the one part he had taken anyway, and I had thanked him for bringing her home.
The betrayal would not leave my chest.
My best friend, and my sister?
What the fuck?
Not only had he touched her. He had looked me in the eye for weeks, maybe months, and let me call him a great friend while he was sneaking around with my sister.
Locker rooms. Hallways. Beach houses. All the times I had waved him toward her seats and thought he was celebrating with me.
No wonder she suddenly started showing up at his games and screaming louder than everyone else. No wonder he played better on days that she was out there watching him.
I stormed out of her doorway before they heard the door.
Then down the stairs. Out toward the driveway.
My hands were already on my phone, shaking with a kind of anger I did not use on people I loved, and I loved him.
That was the part that made it worse. I loved him and he had still done this in my house. I loved him like a fucking brother.
A brother.
How could he do this to me?

Come to the house. Now.

ent it to Roman, my supposedly best friend, the man I had trusted with every messy part of this family.
Pregnant.
My sister. My innocent sister.
I stood on the gravel and stared at the message like I could take it back. I did not take it back/
If he had an explanation, he could give it to my face.
If he did not, I was going to put him on the ground in front of the house he had been welcome in for
years.
