GRAYSON~

Lily was losing it in the living room. I hated seeing her like this. She never should have walked in and saw me going down on Blair like that.
Fuck.
What was I thinking? I wasn’t thinking. I was so angry after seeing pictures of Blair out with Chase that all rational thoughts flew out the window. And now was dealing with the consequences of my actions.
Lily’s hands shook as she paced in front of me, voice rising with every sentence like she couldn’t get the image out of her head fast enough.
“I don’t even recognize you anymore,” she said, turning to face me fully. “That was not the man I have loved since we were kids. That was someone else. Someone who could put his mouth on her…on Blair, like I didn’t exist. I still think this has to be a nightmare that I will soon wake up from. This cannot be real. You wouldn’t do this to me. They Grayson I know loves me too much.”
I stood there with pool water still on my clothes and the taste of Blair still on my tongue, and had no excuses for what I’d done. I couldn’t come up with something fast enough. But truly, what could you possibly say in a situation like this?
“I can’t believe you would cheat on me with her,” Lily continued. “Out of everyone. Her. You promised me, Grayson. You looked me in the eye and promised you would never touch her. That this marriage was temporary. That I was the one you wanted. And I walk outside and find you between her legs with her clothes ripped off. Tonight was supposed to be date night, did you forget about that?”
The guilt was heavy in my chest. I didn’t know how to apologize in a way that would matter. In a way that would fix this or make it better for her.
There was no version of I’m sorry that erased what she had seen. No sentence that put the boundary back where it had been before I lost control in the water.
“It was a mistake,” I said. The words felt false, like a big lie. “It won’t happen again. We were arguing. I got carried away trying to prove a point. That’s all it was.”
Lily let out a broken, disbelieving laugh. “A point? That was not a point. That was you choosing her with your whole body.”
“I only have eyes for you.” Another lie.
What was wrong with me?
The lie left my mouth on instinct, the old reassurance I had given her for weeks. The second it was out I knew it was a complete fucking lie. If I only had eyes for Lily, I would not want Blair as badly as I did. Even now, all I could think about was spreading her legs and tasting her again.
If I only had eyes for Lily, I would not still be hearing the way Blair said my name when my mouth was on her.
I would not be standing in this room with the sick understanding that stopping had cost me something! didn’t want to name.
Behind us, I could hear her footsteps
Blair walked in with a towel wrapped tightly around her body, hair wet, expression carefully composed except for the raised brow that said she had heard enough.
Fuck.
Had she heard it all? Why was I hoping she hadn’t?
Successfully unlocked!
Her gaze moved from Lily’s wrecked face to mine and stayed there, unreadable and sharp.
I felt like shit that she had heard me. Why did it matter to me so much? I’d started this marriage not caring

what Blair thought of the words coming out of my mouth. When had that changed?

Fonly have eyes for you…I’d said that to Lily, and it suddenly felt like a betrayal pointed in the wrong direction. I didn’t want her to absorb them as truth. I didn’t want her to see it as confirmation that what had happened in the pool meant nothing.
I didn’t want to lose her.
Fuck. Did those words really form in my mind?
The thought made no sense. She was the obligation. The debt payment. The woman I had sworn to push away until the arrangement could end. And still the idea of her believing my lie scared me to the point that I couldn’t form anymore words.
Why her?
Why Blair Monroe? What was it about her?
Lily followed my attention and the second she registered Blair in the room her face contorted.
She lunged forward.
“You-”
I caught her around the waist and hauled her back against me, her body thrashing once with pure rage. “Lily. Stop.”
“Let go of me!”
“You need to calm down.” I tightened my hold and started walking her toward the far hallway, away from Blair, away from the open line of confrontation that would only get uglier. “This is not how we handle it.”
“She ruined everything!” Lily’s voice cracked into a sob as she fought my grip. “You let her ruin everything! You are mine Grayson. Nothing will ever change that.”
I didn’t look back at Blair as I moved Lily out of the room, but I felt her presence behind us.
I had no idea how to fix any of it.
“And don’t think I didn’t see the fucking picture of the two of you on the wall!” Lily screamed. “Do you really think it’s fair to me, having to see that every time I walk into this house?”
Right. The honeymoon picture that I’d recently started to actually enjoy staring at.
Fuck.
This was bad.
