Chapter 52
Chapter 52
~GRAYSON~
I got home after midnight and walked into a crime scene.

Not blood. Not broken glass. Just empty space where the master bed was supposed to be. The nightstands were still there. The lamps. The rug. The whole architecture of the room sat intact around the absence so blatant my brain took a full second to accept it.
What the fuck.
I stood in the doorway with my bag still on my shoulder and stared at the floor like the bed might reappear if I waited long enough. It didn’t.
The mattress, the frame, the pillows-everything
was gone. In its place was hardwood and the distinct feeling that my house had turned against me while I was on a plane.
Why would anyone move the bed?
“Blair?”
No answer.
I dropped the bag and moved through the second floor with increasing irritation, checking the bathroom, the closet, the hallway, anywhere she might be using as a temporary headquarters for whatever war she had declared this time.
I found her in the far guest room, curled on top of the covers in an old T-shirt, scrolling her phone like a woman who had finished a task and was waiting for the consequences to find her.
She glanced up when I filled the doorway.
I pointed roughly in the direction of the master bedroom. “Where is the bed? What are you up to now?”
“I got rid of it.”
I pinched the bridge of my nose as I tried to stay calm.
The fact that she seemed to be so unbothered made this harder to accept.
I frowned. “Why?”
Blair locked her phone and set it on the nightstand softly. “Since you decided to have sex with your childhood sweetheart in our bed while we’re married, and then let her sleep there in nothing but lingerie, I thought it was my duty to burn the bed to the ground. To completely get rid of it. For good.”
I stared at her.
For a moment the words refused to arrange themselves into meaning. Sex. Lily. Our bed. Lingerie. Burned to the ground?
I shook my head. What the fuck was that?
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
She didn’t blink. “You heard me.”
I took a step into the room, exhaustion and confusion crashing hard. “Did you have too much to drink again? Did all of these things happen in your mind and you chose to take it out on my perfectly good bed?”
Blair’s expression flattened into pure offense. She looked back at her phone like I had ceased to exist.
Successfully unlocked!
I pinched the bridge of my nose, again, enough to liurt and forced myself to breathe through the frustration.
This was not the greeting I wanted to receive. Though, I was still trying to figure out what she was saying.

Sex with Lily? That didn’t happen in a fucking long time, partly because I couldn’t stop thinking about her.
Did you find Lily tour bed?” I asked.
Blair rolled her eyes, then lifted one hand and flipped me off without looking up.
I groaned.
“Blair.”
Nothing.
“You burned our bed because you think I slept with Lily in it. Is that what you’re saying?”
“I didn’t think,” she said, still not looking at me. “I walked in. She was there. Lingerie. Sheets. Photos on her phone she was more than happy to show me. Congratulations. Maybe she might even be pregnant.”
Photos.
How could there even be photos?
I stood in the guest room and realized I had no proper way to defend myself against something I hadn’t done. Those photos she claimed to see might be old.
But Blair believed it.
That much was obvious from the way she wouldn’t look at me, from the guest room, from the decision to erase the bed entirely.
“I’m going to fix this,” I said.
She huffed a soft, humorless sound. “I’m sure you are.”
I left before the argument could dig a deeper hole with no information in it. In the hallway I pulled out my phone, scrolled to Lily’s name, and called
She answered on the second ring. “Grayson?”
“What did you do?”
A pause. “You’re going to have to be more specific.
“Blair came home and found you in our bed in lingerie. She says you told her I had sex with you before I left, She says you showed her photos. I didn’t even meet with you before leaving.”
The only person I met with was Blair. And I’d done so to ensure Chase was keeping a good distance away from her. I didn’t like the idea of him getting too close to my wife.
My free hand curled into a fist against the wall.
“Explain. Now. Is it true? Did you come here in lingerie just to mess with Blair and have her think we had sex?’
Silence stretched on the other end of the line, long enough to confirm I was not going to like the answer.
I waited.
Lily still didn’t speak.
“Lily-”
“Why does that even matter to you?” she asked, answering my question with one of her own. “If Blair isn’t important to you, then it wouldn’t matter if what she’s saying is the truth or a lie.”
While that might have been true, I still hated the idea that she’d pulled something like this. Now I was left without a damn bed, for something I didn’t even find out about until now.
“Can you just answer me?”
