Chapter 59
~BLAIR
Grayson drove like the road had personally offended him.

His hands were tight on the wheel, jaw set, the cut near his eyebrow still slightly visible under the strip the trainers had put on it.
Whatever Chase had said at that faceoff had pissed him off bad.
I had seen Grayson angry before. This was different. This was much worse. He looked as though there was a lot on his mind and it was affecting his ability to think clearly.
What exactly did Chase say to him? Chase could be a real jerk sometimes-most of the time, actually. Since he was so eager to win that game, he might have said something to intentionally provoke Grayson. I just can’t figure out what could have been so bad that it made Grayson react this way.
At first, I thought maybe I should give him some time to calm down, but I was too anxious to understand why he was so upset. I needed to find out.
“What happened out there?” I asked once the media lights were far enough behind us. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this angry during a game.”
He didn’t look at me. “Nothing you need to know.”
I narrowed my eyes. That was not the answer I was hoping to get from him. Of course I needed to know. Chase was my ex-boyfriend and there was a good chance he’d said something about me.
“Grayson.” I snapped. “Tell me. Was it something about me?”
“You don’t need to know.”
This again?
Of course, I needed to know what happened when he was driving like a madman. It was almost as though he hoped he could run Chase over with his vehicle, even though Chase and his car were still back in the parking lot.
“Come on,” I whispered. “At least talk to me. He must have said something. You wouldn’t start a fight for no reason. I know you.”
I know you? Since when did I start knowing him?
“Same answer I gave the room. Drop it.”
I turned toward the window and watched the city move past, trying to keep my voice low when I spoke again.
“I hate seeing you fight like that. You could have hurt yourself and been out for weeks. Your health matters. Your body matters. Chase can be an ass sometimes. Don’t let him get to you. Please.”
“You shouldn’t worry.” His tone was flat. “It’s nothing you need to be concerned about. I’m just glad he was in a pretty worse shape than me.”
I bit my lip and let the quiet take over for the rest of the drive. He didn’t say anything else. Neither did I. By the time we pulled into the garage and walked into the house, my heart was pounding.
I set my bag down in the entryway and started toward the kitchen, more to escape the weight of his mood than because I needed anything.
I made it three steps.
His arm hooked around my waist from behi Successfully unlocked!ck against him so suddenly a sound left
my throat.
What was he doing? He was the one acting like he wanted to be alone in the vehicle. Why was he stopping

me from going to the kitchen? i thought giving him some space would be good but clearly I was wrong.
Before i could get my balance, he turned us, dropped into the armchair near the wall, and pulled me down
with him.
I was left straddling his lap, my knees on either side of his thighs, his hands locked at my hips like he had already decided I wasn’t going anywhere.
I couldn’t breathe. In complete shock. Grayson never did things like this. He always kept a good distance between us unless he was up to something
“W-what are you doing?”
He looked up at me, eyes still dark from the night, from the fight, from whatever he refused to say in the vehicle. His grip flexed once.
“We’re married,” he said as he slowly trailed a finger down my neck. “Don’t you think it’s about time we consummated it?”
My eyes went wide.
For a second the entire house seemed to go quiet around his words.
Married?
Consummate?
I could feel the heat of his hands on me and his body under mine, still tensed from beating Chase on the ice and nearly taking a reporter’s head off for implying I may have been cheating on him with his rival.
I still couldn’t get over that. Seeing Grayson get so pissed because a reporter mentioned the diner incident. And now this? Surely this was some sort of joke. He was messing with me. That was the only explanation.
“Grayson-”
“You heard me.”
My heart was pounding. There were so many reasons I should say no-so many things between us that didn’
t add up. Yet, the word no refused to escape my lips, especially considering how good it felt to be on top of him right now.
I should have pushed off him.
I should have demanded to know what exactly happened between him and Chase on the ice for him to even suggest something like this.
Instead I sat there straddling my husband, eyes wide, breathing hard, with his hands on my waist, unable to come up with any words.
It was obvious. I wanted it. I wanted him.
