# Chapter 131: The Unexpected Visitor

The last time Renee had seen this man, they had gone their separate ways after the Global Hacker Championship. She hadn't given him a second thought since then. But now here he was, strolling into her territory as if he owned the place, his casual outfit and easy-going demeanor making him look like a carefree college student rather than a powerful figure with a dangerous background.
"It's been a long time, Phoenix." Haze smiled at her warmly. With both hands in his pockets, he looked like the very picture of nonchalance. "I've been thinking about you and watching you from afar."
Renee couldn't help but shudder. "That sounds just creepy, you know. People might think you're some stalker who has had a crush on me for years."
Quinton glared at her immediately and scolded, "Renee, don't be rude. Mr. Baldwin is a very important ally of ours. His family carries tremendous influence, and they're the only family that can fight against the Hunt family. If we want to defeat them, we need the Baldwin family's full support. Also, he's the reason I got this place. If not for him, our home..."
Renee rolled her eyes, not letting him finish. "Quinton, you're too naive. They wanted to set up a sewage treatment plant here because of him. He simply used some small tricks to make us owe him a favor. What's so great about that?"
In Renee's eyes, Haze was just an amateur she had defeated four years in a row at the Global Hacker Championship. Even with his powerful family background, he still couldn't match her skill. So why should she treat him with special respect? She could absolutely talk to him in whatever way she wanted.
But Haze, to his credit, didn't become angry at all. Instead, he pursed his lips and said smoothly, "Quinton, I'm sure you don't know this, but Phoenix and I are actually very good friends. We don't just share the same technical field, but she's also my fiancée. My family hopes that I can marry her and take her home soon so that I can bring glory to my family!"
"Pfft!" Renee couldn't stop herself from laughing as soon as she heard this dramatic statement. "Dude, just stop. My brother will buy these lies, but I won't."
"I'm not lying, am I?" Haze approached her with a pitiful expression, his tone suddenly turning sorrowful. "To be completely honest with you, the main reason I've come to Beach City is to make you fall in love with me and gladly marry me. But what did you do? You ignored me and left me to fend for myself in this strange city."
Renee smacked her forehead, groaning internally. "If you don't stop with this nonsense, I'm going to beat you up right here."
"Okay." Haze immediately shut his mouth. He knew all too well about Renee's exceptional martial arts skills, especially because he had personally experienced her violent outbursts during every single encounter they had ever had. He definitely didn't want to experience that again, especially not in front of an important figure like Quinton. It would be far too embarrassing.
Quinton was pleasantly surprised as he watched their playful exchange. A hint of satisfaction crept into his smile as he nodded and said, "I really didn't expect the two of you to be that close. Well, this will make our collaboration smoother. I can already envision both of our families joining forces to dominate Beach City. With such an alliance, we won't have anything to worry about anymore!"
In the middle of all this, poor Renee could only stare at the two men with a headache blooming in her temples. Haze's sudden appearance, Quinton's ridiculous dream of a family alliance, and the lurking threat of the Hunt family... everything was stacking up on her plate. She couldn't help but wonder, for how long would this irritating man stay by her side? And more importantly, what was the real reason behind his sudden appearance?

I absolutely adore the banter between Renee and Haze — it really lightens up the mood while also dropping important hints about the larger power game in Beach City. Haze has always been a tricky character, and his shocking confession about wanting to marry Renee definitely gave me a good laugh, but I can't help but wonder what his true game plan is. Quinton, on the other hand, is becoming far too invested in the idea of a Baldwin alliance, which might bring more trouble than safety. This chapter does a brilliant job of advancing the political intrigue while giving us a much needed comedic break. I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through.
