# Chapter 132: The Price of Revenge
Hello, everyone, it’s me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and revisit Chapter 132 of "The Untouchable Ex Wife". In this chapter, the air between Renee and her long-lost brother grows colder than ever, and an impossible choice threatens to tear their family apart for the second time. Under a quiet pagoda tree, a lonely swing will carry the weight of one woman’s heartbreak.
Renee frowned deeply, her voice full of worry. "Quinton, the Baldwin family is powerful, and Haze is a very cunning man. If we cooperate with them, we'll definitely suffer a great loss."
But Quinton only smiled, turning to Haze with an appreciative nod. "Maybe you don't know this, but the Baldwin family invests eighty percent, and they only take twenty percent of the profit. We get the remaining eighty percent. No one else would ever be willing to do that, so how could this be a loss for us?"
Renee’s confidence shrank. She leaned close to Haze and whispered, "Did you really spend that much?"
Haze grinned openly and whispered back, "Of course! My family is willing to go that far, as long as you marry me."
Renee was speechless. She looked around the room, searching for a solution that simply did not exist. She had already struggled so hard to convince her brother to cooperate with Stefan and the Hunt family. Now, out of nowhere, the Baldwins had appeared, waving a stunning business offer in front of Quinton like bait. Her dream of the Everhearts and Hunts working together seemed to slip further and further away.
After a long, painful silence, Renee forced herself to compromise. "Fine, we can cooperate with the Baldwin family. But Quinton, you should reconcile with Stefan and let bygones be bygones. I’m not asking for much. Even if we can't cooperate with the Hunt family, we should at least not fight against them. It's what our family would have wanted—we can't be enemies with the Hunts!"
But Quinton refused to bend. "If Dad and Mom knew what Stefan did to me, they would put that aside. Grandpa was a general—of course he wouldn't want to see his descendants bullied by others. Not only was my face ruined, but the Everheart family's dignity was destroyed too. If they were still alive, do you think they would let me suffer in silence?"
"Agreed!" Haze eagerly added fuel to the fire. "Both the Everheart and Baldwin families are descendants of generals, so we're bound by moral integrity. We're not as cowardly as the Hunt family, who went into business instead of war. They're cunning people. If you go easy on them, they'll definitely turn on you in the future."
Renee whipped around, her eyes blazing. "Shut up, Haze! You know nothing, so stop trying to sow discord here! Do you know what my brother experienced? Do you know how painful it is for him to be so full of hatred? You only want us to fight against the Hunt family so you can take advantage of it, don’t you?"
"Umm... I'll shut up and let you guys talk." Haze hunched into a corner, shrinking like a scolded child. Even so, he could feel the undercurrent surging between the siblings. A storm was coming. The smartest thing for him was to keep his distance.
But Quinton had no intention of back down. His voice was hard as iron. "I don't care what you think—it's impossible for me to reconcile with Stefan. If making you pick sides puts you in a dilemma, then I'll be considerate. I'll cut off my relationship with you and assume that we had never been reunited with each other. From then on, we'll have nothing to do with each other!"
Renee’s eyes went wide and watery. She never expected that her own brother would give her up for revenge—even though she would have done anything for him. Of course, it hurt. But how could she blame him? He had faced too many hardships and lost too much. His heart was soaked with hatred, and hatred was a ruthless master.
With a trembling voice, Renee tried to soften him. "Quinton, I know you only said those things because you’re blinded by your hatred. I won’t take it to heart. Both you and I need a few days to calm down. After that, I think we can find a solution."
She left the room alone, going downstairs with heavy footsteps.
Haze watched her retreating back and sighed deeply. "Ah, Phoenix..."
But Renee did not go far. She stepped into the yard where an old pagoda tree stretched its branches into the night. She sat on the swing hanging from one of its broad limbs and pushed herself back and forth, her heart as cold as the evening breeze. The wind shook the branches, and pale flowers fell one by one, settling on her shoulders and stuck in her hair. Loneliness wrapped around her like a second skin.
She muttered to herself, her voice cracking in the silence. "I know he’s hurt. I know he has every reason to hate. And still, I asked him to forgive... I must be so biased."
"Yes, you are!" Haze’s voice suddenly rang out from behind her.
She froze. He had been standing there and observing her for a long time. At first, he didn’t want to disturb her private moment, but hearing her blaming herself worried him, so he stepped forward to shake her out of those dark thoughts.
"Haze, you pervert! Why were you eavesdropping on me?" Renee quickly wiped away her tears and glared at him fiercely. Actually, she was angry at him for a deeper reason. If he hadn’t lured Quinton with that huge investment, perhaps Quinton would have still considered cooperating with Stefan for profit. If the two families ever decided to work together, they would have been in the same boat, even if they didn’t earn much. They wouldn’t be fighting forever. She would finally have found peace.
Haze only smirked. "Well, you spoke so loudly. Are you sure you didn’t do it on purpose to attract my attention?" He lifted his chin arrogantly. "After all, it’s a piece of cake for me to charm thousands of women, let alone you."
"Eww!" Renee pretended to vomit. "Well, thank you. I haven't eaten yet, but you made me lose my appetite."
"Phoenix, when did you get so good at insulting people?"
"Keep talking and it'll only get better."
And under the cold moonlight, the two of them faced each other in the quiet yard—one heart still bleeding, the other carefully hiding his intentions behind a teasing smile. The storm with Quinton had not yet passed, and somewhere out there, Stefan and the Hunts were still waiting for their next move.

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**
This chapter truly pulls at your emotions. Renee is caught between the brother she desperately loves and the hope of ending a family war. Watching Quinton draw such a hard line was heartbreaking, and Haze’s flippant teasing somehow made the painful scene more bearable. The pagoda tree, the lonely swing, the falling flowers—the atmosphere was poetic and sorrowful at the same time. I loved every moment of this emotional rollercoaster.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars
**Next Chapter Prediction:**
Now that Quinton has issued his harsh ultimatum, Renee will be forced to make an impossible decision. Haze will likely use her vulnerable state to get closer to her heart, while Quinton might take more drastic action against Stefan. I predict Stefan will finally step in when he learns Renee is being torn apart by her family—setting the stage for a confrontation where old love and old wounds collide.
