When Renee heard Abby's explanation, the heavy weight crushing her chest finally began to lift. So Adie wasn't lost or in danger—at least, not in the way she had feared. Still, a mother's heart is not so easily soothed.

"Adie didn't let me tell you guys because he didn't want you to worry about him," Abby said quickly, her small voice laced with loyalty to her brother.

Renee tried to steady her breathing, but the worry was already morphing into quiet frustration. "Well, he shouldn't have gone out without permission if that was the case," she said firmly. Turning to Margaret, she instructed, "Call Adie and ask him where he is now, Margaret."

Margaret raised the phone to her ear, her brows furrowing after a moment. "I did, but he didn't answer the call."

"What about his location?"

"I can't find his location because his phone is turned off."

A cold knot tightened in Renee's chest again. But she was not the kind of woman who panicked without a plan. Her mind, even shrouded in darkness, remained sharp as a blade. "It's okay, I know what to do. Get me a laptop."

Renee had always prepared for the worst—especially when it came to her children. Long ago, she had secretly installed a tracking app on both Adie's and Abby's smartwatches, a silent safety net woven into their everyday accessories. Even if the watches were switched off or the batteries died, that tiny chip would still whisper their location to her.

Margaret quickly set a laptop on the desk and, following Renee's instructions, opened the tracking application.

Renee sat down and placed her fingers on the keyboard. Though her eyes were closed, her hands moved with an eerie confidence. The soft clatter of keys filled the silent room, and a progress bar appeared on the screen. Seconds stretched into minutes. Margaret held her breath.

Finally, the bar reached 100%. Renee paused and turned her face toward Margaret. "You should be able to see Adie's location on the screen if nothing's wrong. Can you see it?"

Margaret leaned closer, astonished that Renee could type so fluently even in her sightless state. Her eyes scanned the screen and widened. "Yes, I can see it! He seems to be at... General Hospital."

"The hospital?" Renee frowned, confusion painting her delicate features. She had been certain Adie would follow her phone location and end up at Jovan's manor. Why would he go to General Hospital? What could possibly tempt her little boy there—unless... something—or someone—was calling to him.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of General Hospital, a small figure stood still and silent, tilting his head back to read the bright sign overhead. His chubby face was set with a seriousness that made him seem older than his years. He attracted stares from every passerby—nurses, patients, and visitors alike couldn't help but pause at the sight of such an adorably composed little boy standing all alone.

"Are you alone, love? Where are your parents?" A female nurse stopped in her tracks and knelt down, her voice warm and gentle as she admired his cuteness.

Adie, however, was not here for small talk. He looked at her with calm, intelligent eyes and spoke in a surprisingly mature tone. "I'm looking for someone." Then, with the poise of a tiny detective, he asked, "Do you know a patient called Stefan Hunt, Miss? Which ward is he in?"

The nurse blinked in surprise, then broke into a friendly grin. "Are you here to see Mr. Hunt? What a coincidence you've come to the right person! Mr. Hunt had brain surgery a few days ago, and I'm the nurse in charge of taking care of him." She tilted her head curiously. "Are you a relative? Should I take you to him?"

Adie rubbed his chin thoughtfully—same gesture his mother used when she was piecing together a puzzle. Then, with a confidence that made him look both innocent and wise, he answered, "He and I... I'm sure we're family. Please take me to him, Miss."

And with those simple words, a little boy took a step closer to a truth that could change everything.

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating

What a brilliantly crafted chapter of quiet suspense! The way the author juxtaposes Renee's maternal terror with Adie's calm, deliberate investigation is masterful. Renee's blindness is shown not as a weakness but as a different kind of strength—she relies on technology, instinct, and the people around her. Adie's bold decision to seek out Stefan Hunt is both heartwarming and nerve-wracking. Who exactly is Stefan Hunt to him? And why is Adie so certain they are family? The emotional depth, the tight pacing, and the cliffhanger at the hospital corridor left my heart racing. I absolutely loved this chapter.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars

## Next Chapter Prediction

Now that Adie has convinced the nurse to take him to Stefan Hunt, the next chapter will likely reveal a shocking encounter. Will Stefan recognize the boy as his own grandson? Or will Adie come face to face with a truth that turns the Hunt family saga upside down? Meanwhile, Renee and Margaret are about to rush to General Hospital—but will they arrive in time to stop a secret from exploding? I predict that Stefan's first glance at Adie will trigger a memory, and the connection between the Everhart and Hunt families will finally begin to unravel. Get ready for a tear-jerking revelation!
