The hospital corridors were quiet, sterile, and heavily guarded. Every entrance to the inpatient department had been fortified with towering, stone-faced bodyguards, each one more intimidating than the last. It seemed Francine had truly gone overboard with security — not that anyone could blame her, given the circumstances. Danger lurked around every corner, and she was determined to keep her family safe.
But little Adie was not the kind of boy to be stopped by a few armed men.
He had navigated the hospital with the stealth and precision of a seasoned spy. With a sharp mind and a fearless heart, he had slipped past reception, dodged nurses, and weaved through crowded hallways until he reached the elevator doors. His plan was simple: get to his father, Stefan. No obstacle was too big for him. He had already faced far worse than a few bodyguards in his short life.
Yet, as the elevator doors slid open with a soft *ding*, a hulking silhouette blocked his path. A tall, sturdy bodyguard stepped forward, his brow furrowed in a fierce scowl. The man’s eyes scanned the little boy with suspicion and barely concealed hostility. A gun gleamed unmistakably in its holster at his side — a warning that this was no ordinary hospital wing.
“Where are you from, kiddo?” the bodyguard barked, his voice sharp and cold. “You shouldn't be here. Where are your parents? Hurry up and get out of here!”
Adie did not flinch. He tilted his chin upward, his dark eyes unwavering, and met the man’s harsh glare straight on. With a boldness that belied his tiny frame, he announced, “My father is Stefan. Take me to him.”
For a moment, the bodyguard stared at him in disbelief. Then, a ugly sneer twisted his lips. “Nice try, kid. Mr. Hunt is the president of Hunt Enterprise, and there's no way he’s your father.” He studied the boy from head to toe, certain this was some convoluted scheme. “Mr. Hunt's enemies are really getting creative sending a kid over. Who sent you? Tell me, or I'm going to teach you a lesson.”
Before Adie could react, the bodyguard lunged forward. Rough, calloused hands seized the boy’s shoulders, lifting him off the ground like a stray kitten. The sudden motion made Adie’s heart stutter, but his face remained remarkably composed — a mask of courage he had perfected over time.
“What weapons do you have with you? Give them up now!” the bodyguard growled, patting him down with impatient aggression.
Adie’s temper flared. He squirmed, kicked his legs, and shouted with all the righteous fury a five-year-old could muster, “Let go of me! How dare you bully me! My mommy isn’t going to let you go if she knows you did this to me!”
The bodyguard winced. This kid was a handful. But he knew his duty: no one, not even a child, was getting near Stefan without approval. He tightened his grip, hissing under his breath, “Be quiet! Keep this up and I'll shoot you.” Then, fearing the noise would disturb Mr. Hunt, he slapped a heavy hand over Adie’s mouth, silencing the boy's protests.
But Adie would not be silenced so easily. He was not called a genius child for nothing.
His mind raced. His father was somewhere on this floor, maybe just a few doors away. If he couldn't slip past this man quietly, he would make the loudest possible scene to draw attention. That was the backup plan — crude, but effective.
With a sudden jerk, Adie bit down hard on the fleshy edge of the man’s palm. The bodyguard yelped and loosened his grip, and that was all the opening Adie needed. He twisted, kicked, and screamed at the top of his lungs, “Help! Help me! Someone is trying to bully a child! Help!”
The bodyguard’s face went red with pain and panic. He’d dealt with drunkards, thugs, and even assassins in his career, but never in his life had he been so thoroughly defeated by a determined preschooler. Grappling with the wriggling little terror, he felt utterly miserable.
Just when the situation threatened to spiral completely out of control, a sharp, authoritative voice cut through the chaos like a blade.
“Stop!”
It was Francine.
She had been checking on the security arrangements when she heard the commotion down the hallway. Curiosity turned to alarm as she drew closer, and then alarm turned to sheer, blinding fury. There, in the arms of a hulking bodyguard, was her beloved grandson — kicking, biting, and being manhandled like a criminal.
Her eyes widened. Then narrowed with the terrifying intensity of a mother bear who had just spotted a threat to her cub.
The bodyguard, however, was oblivious to the storm about to crash down on him. He turned to Francine, still holding the boy up like a trophy, and explained with self-important certainty, “Madam, I'm sure Mr. Hunt's enemies sent this boy over, but don't worry. I'll get rid of him now.”
“Nonsense! I'll get rid of *you* if you don't put him down!” Francine snapped, her voice cracking like a whip as she rushed toward them.
The bodyguard blinked in confusion. “Huh?”
But there was no time for explanations. Francine snatched Adie from his hands with remarkable speed, pulling the little boy into a warm, protective embrace. Her heart pounded in her chest — a mixture of relief and vexation. She cupped his face, searched his bright eyes, and fussed over every inch of him to make sure he was unharmed.
“Oh, dear. What are you doing here alone, Adie?” she asked, her voice softening despite her racing heart. “Where’s your mommy? Why didn’t you contact me before you came? You would have gotten into trouble if I was any later.”
Adie, ever the composed little gentleman, smiled calmly. Unlike his grandmother, he didn’t seem shaken in the least. “I’m okay, Grandma. It's just a bodyguard; he can't hurt me.”
He spoke with such casual confidence that Francine almost laughed — but her fury still simmered beneath the surface. This child had seen far too much danger in his short life, yet here he stood, fearless and unbothered.
The bodyguard stood frozen, his mouth agape. Slowly, the pieces clicked together. The boy had called Francine “Grandma.” Which meant this little brat was... no. It couldn't be.
“Grand... Grandma?” He swallowed hard, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead as the horrifying realization dawned on him. His face drained of all color, turning as white as the hospital walls. “I was stupid, Madam. I failed to recognize him. P-Please forgive me!”
He had just roughed up the grandson of his employer. If Stefan Hunt ever found out about this, the bodyguard’s career — and perhaps his life — would be over.
Francine turned a glacial gaze upon the trembling man. Every instinct in her wanted to tear him apart for daring to lay a hand on her grandson. Her voice dripped with ice as she said, “Yes, you really are stupid! You'd better give up being a bodyguard!”
The man looked like he might collapse on the spot. But Francine had no more time to waste on him. She turned her attention back to Adie, her expression softening once more, though a hint of worry remained in her eyes.
“Now, tell me, little one,” she said gently, stroking his hair. “Why exactly did you come here alone?”
Adie looked up at her, his small face resolute. But before he could answer, both of them heard footsteps echoing from the end of the corridor — the door to Stefan’s room creaking open.
It seemed the noise had finally drawn the attention of the man they had all been protecting.

## Reader’s Impressions & Star Rating
Oh, what a powerful little scene! This chapter illustrates so beautifully that Adie is truly his mother's son — brave, cunning, and absolutely unwilling to back down, even in the face of armed hostility. My heart raced during his struggle with the bodyguard, and then burst with warmth when Francine swooped in like a superhero grandmother. Her fury was completely justified; that bodyguard made a colossal mistake, and his terror was deeply satisfying to witness. The way Adie remained calm throughout, even managing to bite and kick his way through a dangerous situation, shows just how resilient and clever this little boy is. Francine’s protective fury was both fearsome and touching. The only downside? The chapter ended far too quickly, right when Stefan was about to appear! I need more immediately!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.7 / 5 Stars
## Next Chapter Prediction
Now that the commotion at the door has reached Stefan’s ears, the next chapter will surely bring the father and son face to face. Expect Stefan to emerge and witness the aftermath — possibly learning what his own security almost did to his child. That knowledge will undoubtedly ignite a cold, terrifying rage in him, and we might see a powerful display of his protective side. Additionally, Adie’s unannounced visit hints at some urgent matter — could he have brought news about his mother, Renee? Or perhaps trouble is brewing that the Hunts don't yet know about. Either way, prepare for an emotional family reunion and a reckoning for that poor bodyguard!
