# Chapter 4: A Jealous Heart Hidden Behind Stubborn Walls

Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 4 of "The Untouchable Ex Wife." Oh, my dear readers, if you thought the previous chapter was full of tension and sacrifice, just wait until you hear what happens now. Our heroine, Renee, has woken up after a harrowing ordeal, but instead of thinking about her own fragile health, her very first thought is for the man who once broke her heart. And what does she find when she rushes to his side? A grown man throwing tantrums like a petulant child! Let me take you through every emotional twist and turn of this unforgettable chapter.

The chapter opens with Margaret bustling around Renee, carefully brewing up a dose of herbal medicine. Suddenly, Renee sneaks up behind her, hoping to startle the poor maid. When Margaret spins around, Renee flashes a playful grin. "Were you scared?"

But Margaret was indeed frightened—not because of the prank itself, but because something heavy lies on her heart. You see, Margaret is not the kind of person who can hide her feelings, and the weight of what she has just witnessed is clearly written all over her face. Still, she manages to compose herself and answers warmly, "Miss Ren, you scared me! Thank goodness you're finally awake. Come and take this medicine."

She carefully pours the still-warm herbal brew into a palm-sized bowl, blowing on it gently to cool it down before handing it to Renee. Yet Renee has absolutely no interest in drinking it. Her voice betrays her urgency as she fires off question after question: "How is Stefan doing? Is his medicine done? Is the ingredient enough? If not, you can take more from me." And before anyone can stop her, she is already rolling up her sleeves, ready to sacrifice yet another portion of her own blood for that stubborn man—because you see, her blood is a vital ingredient for his medicine.

But before she can follow through, Jovan storms into the room and firmly pushes her arms back down. His expression is stern, his voice laced with frustration. "No, we can't do that. Do you think your blood is tap water? You can't keep giving it away." He is genuinely worried about her; she has just regained consciousness after all, and here she is, offering up more of herself again. He urges her to drink the medicine first and reassures her there is nothing to worry about—Stefan is fine for the moment.

"Really?" Renee does not believe him, so she turns her doubting gaze toward Margaret, desperately seeking confirmation from someone she trusts.

"Umm..." Margaret freezes, caught between her honest nature and Jovan's intentions. She simply cannot lie the way Jovan does. Her hesitation alone is enough of an answer, and even though she doesn't say anything, the tension in the room thickens dramatically.

Meanwhile, across the manor, Renee has been unconscious. During those long, agonizing days, Stefan has been trapped in his own personal torture. He heard the news that Renee had fainted that day, and no matter how much he wished to rush to her side, he couldn't—because he was bound to his bed, fragile as glass, barely able to take a single step on his own. Every day without her felt like an entire year passing. He was filled with worry and concern, yet he never once allowed himself to visit her or even inquire about her condition.

Why, you ask? Ah, because he had overheard something that cut him deep. Someone had said, "Renee will be fine since Jovan is taking care of her."

Hmph! She would be just fine because Jovan was taking care of her. On the other hand, he—Stefan—needed someone to take care of him too! But his pride, that wicked, towering pride of his, would never let him admit that. If he went to her now, helpless and weak as he was, he would only end up causing her more trouble. And so, he suffered in silence, letting jealousy and stubbornness consume him.

Back on Renee's side of things, she eventually musters up the energy to make the journey to the west wing. And what greets her ears as she approaches? The unmistakable, thunderous sound of glass shattering against a wall, followed by a furious roar: "Get lost! I don't need your pity!"

Two nurses come running out of the room, sobbing pitifully, their faces streaked with tears of humiliation and fear. When they see Renee, it is as if they have spotted a guardian angel descending from the heavens. "Miss Everheart, you're awake? That's wonderful..." They look at her like she is their only savior and immediately beg her, "Please go and advise Mr. Hunt. His current condition isn't very good, but he's refusing to eat or drink. He even prohibited us from taking care of him and drove us out. If this continues, I'm afraid he'll die of thirst or hunger."

"He doesn't eat or drink?" Renee frowns, utterly bewildered. Why is he doing this to himself? Why does he have to be so impossibly difficult?

She steps into that room, fully prepared to deal with a stubborn, unreasonable man-child. And what she sees is far worse than she expected. This is Stefan—the great president of a powerful company, a man who commands respect and authority—reduced to a shadow of himself. He sits there, looking haggard, unkempt, and unmistakably miserable. He hasn't eaten. He hasn't drunk. And those signs of neglect are written all over him like a tragedy in slow motion.

Renee knows immediately what she must do. She tried to lighten the mood with cheerfulness, afraid that her fragile health would only worry him further. "Don't worry, I'm fine. I was just staying up late every day to play games, so I had low blood sugar. I've got my energy back after resting for a few days." A lie, of course, but a gentle one. She doesn't want to burden him with the truth—that she has been giving her own blood for his medicine.

Stefan looks relieved—at least, she wants to believe he does. But his response bursts through any hope for emotional warmth. "Well, that's true. You had Jovan to take care of you, so of course, you would be fine."

His tone is cold, flat, utterly emotionless—and yet, underneath it, Renee can hear something raw and jagged. She actually finds it amusing. She thinks to herself, 'Didn't he forget about me? Why does he have to say something so strange? He's indeed quite prone to jealousy.'

So she decides to poke him, just a little. "Yeah, he took great care of me. My face is clean, and I ate a lot unlike you... You neither ate nor drank. I can even see your stubble now. Well, the great president has now become unrecognizable. I'm sure your fangirls will feel quite sad when they see you." With that, she reaches up and gently touches the stubble around his lips, caressing it indulgently. At that moment, to her, Stefan isn't the imposing leader she once knew and feared. No—to her, he has become a baby, even weaker and more vulnerable than Adie and Abby. And no matter how unreasonable he is, she is willing to spoil him, flatter him, and pamper him regardless.

But Stefan? Oh, that infuriating man! He immediately recoils, a veil of indifference masking whatever emotion flickers beneath. "I don't like people touching me," he announces, cold and aloof.

And there it is, dear readers—the wall that Stefan has built higher and thicker than any fortress. He is drowning in his own jealousy, throwing tantrums, refusing care, and pushing away the very woman who is sacrificing her lifeblood to save him. Renee stands there looking at her untouchable ex-husband, wondering just how many more walls she must tear down before she reaches the heart of the man she once loved.

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating

Oh, my heart! This chapter was an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved every single second of it. The contrast between Renee's unconditional compassion and Stefan's infuriating stubbornness is what makes this story so addictive. Renee is such a strong yet tender heroine—even after everything, she chooses care over resentment. And Stefan! That man is hopelessly jealous but too proud to admit it. His childish refusal to eat, his cold retorts, and the way he shuts her out while obviously suffering from the distance between them—it's both maddening and endearing. I honestly want to shake him and hug him at the same time. The psychological depth of this chapter is superb, showing us two people who clearly still love each other but are trapped in an endless dance of pride and miscommunication.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars**

## Next Chapter Prediction

Oh, I can already sense how the next chapter is going to ignite! Renee just witnessed Stefan's blatant jealousy, and she knows exactly how to get under his skin. I predict she will deliberately test his limits, perhaps by mentioning Jovan even more or spending more time with him just to see how far Stefan's possessiveness will push him. Stefan, on the other hand, seems torn between pushing her away and desperately wanting her close. How long can those cold walls of his hold before they come crumbling down? And let's not forget—Renee needs to be careful. Given how fragile she still is from giving her blood, Jovan will not sit by idly while Stefan keeps provoking her. A clash between these two men is on the horizon, and I cannot wait to see what sparks fly!
