The moment Maya set foot in the human world, something broke inside her. It wasn't the magic of the fairy realm that called to her anymore—it was Cassian. Every time he was near, her heart hammered so violently she thought it might burst from her chest. She wanted only one thing: to be with him. For him, she was willing to defy the Fairy Queen, to face certain death, to burn her old life to ashes.

But Fay, ever watchful and irritatingly protective, seemed to sense her drifting heart. He never left her alone with Cassian. Always, at the worst possible moments, he would appear with some excuse—work, duties, urgent matters. He was like a thorn in the garden of her longing.

Then, on that fateful day, Maya managed to slip away from Fay's gaze. She went searching for Cassian, her steps quick and determined. But before she found him, a servant's voice echoed through the palace halls, spreading news like wildfire: *The queen has awakened.*

April had finally opened her eyes.

Maya felt a genuine wave of relief. But right behind it came a cold wave of sorrow. Because this meant her time with Cassian was running out. She would soon be summoned back to the land of fairies, back to her chains. The thought made her chest ache with rebellion.

Lost in those dark thoughts, she walked through the palace corridors—and then, like fate's cruel joke, she ran right into him. Cassian. The very man she'd been searching for.

Before she could even speak, he grabbed her hand, pulling her into a nearby room. The door clicked shut. And then his lips were on hers.

It was a kiss of pure hunger. Their mouths collided, fierce and desperate, as if they were trying to consume each other. Their hands clung to one another, clawing, gripping, as if they wanted to leave permanent marks on each other's skin. Maya tossed aside her thick winter clothes and kissed him back just as fiercely, her body awakening to a new truth: she was not going back. Not ever.

But of course, Fay had other plans. Through the door, she heard his voice, muffled and annoyed: *"Maya, are you there? Stop playing hide and seek. Come out now."*

Cassian pulled back, his voice thick with irritation. "Damn. How does that idiot always find us?"

"I'm sorry," Maya whispered. "Let me just send him away—"

He caught her wrist before she could move. "Don't. If you open that door, that fool won't leave us alone."

But Fay was relentless. The knocking continued. Maya hesitated, but Cassian pulled her closer, captured her neck with one hand, and kissed her again—long, intense, filled with every ounce of his possessive fire. His tongue brushed against hers, coaxing her to open for him. She moaned, her lips parting, and he took her completely. She couldn't think. All she knew was his taste, his heat, the way he pressed her against him as if he wanted to melt her into his bones.

Against her ear, he whispered, rough and low: "Forget about that asshole and just focus on me. I don't want you thinking about another man when you're with me. I get jealous… and I want to kill him."

Maya laughed, breathless. "You're really so jealous."

He kissed her neck, soft as a promise. "Yeah, a lot. You can't imagine how much. Every time I see another man near you, my blood boils. I want you all to myself."

She answered with another kiss. "There's nothing to be done. I feel the same way. I'm obsessive, and I want you only for myself. I think our relationship will be rather conflict-ridden."

"Maybe it will be," he said, gazing into her eyes with a tenderness that made her knees weak. "But I can't imagine myself with anyone else but you. That's why I'll do everything possible to free you from those damn chains that bind you to the Fairy Queen."

Maya reached up and caressed his face. "I love you, Cassian. I love you so much my heart hurts just thinking about leaving you. I want to stay by your side. I don't even care if I die for disobeying the Fairy Queen's orders. Because I'd rather live one day in your arms than an eternity without you."

"Shhh… don't say that." He silenced her with kisses. "I won't let that happen. I won't."

Outside, Fay's voice and the murmurs of maids faded into nothing. They ignored them all. And there, in that hidden room, they gave themselves to each other completely—two souls twisting into one, bodies moving in perfect harmony as the afternoon sun painted the walls with gold. For the first time in her immortal life, Maya felt truly whole.

But night, as it always does, fell far too soon.

When Maya finally returned to her own quarters, Fay was waiting. His arms were crossed, his face a mask of tight-lipped irritation.

"You finally appear," he said coldly. "I've been looking for you all afternoon. Where were you?"

"That's none of your business, Fay."

"You were with your human lover."

"What I do with my life is not something that concerns you."

Fay's jaw tightened. "Maya, you can't be with that human. You can't stay with him."

"Why not?"

"Because you'd die if you did. And the Fairy Queen would kill me if I didn't bring you back with me."

"Why would I do such a thing?"

Fay exhaled, frustrated. "You're still not aware of your own value. Do you really think the queen would give something as important as one of the keys to the door of Hades for just a wandering fairy?"

Maya's blood turned cold. "What do you mean by that?"

"You are valuable, Maya. More than you imagine. So leave that human. No matter what you do, you will never be able to be with him."

Fay started moving toward the door, but Maya blocked his path. "You're not leaving here until you explain what you mean by 'valuable.'"

"It is not something I should tell you."

Maya drew her daggers from her waist, pointing them at him. "I already told you—I won't let you go until I get my answer."

Fay sighed, deeply annoyed. "You really are so troublesome."

"Open your mouth and answer my question, Fay. Or I'll make you speak by force."

He finally looked at her—a long, searching look. Then he spoke, each word landing like a stone in still water.

"…You are a descendant of the Queen. That's why she won't let you go. That's why she called you every day for tea—because every time she sees you, she sees her daughter. You are her spitting image."

Maya's heart stopped. "That's not true. You're lying."

"I am a Maya fairy," he said quietly. "I cannot lie."

And there it was. The truth that shattered everything.

Maya stood frozen, the daggers trembling in her hands. Her whole world tilted. She wasn't just some ordinary fairy who'd been granted a mission. She was blood of the queen—a descendant of the very woman who ruled the fairy realm with an iron will. And that changed everything about her destiny, her freedom, and her love.

What would she do with this secret? Could she use it to break her chains? Or would it only bind her tighter? And Cassian—would he still love her when he learned who she truly was?

The night stretched on, heavy with questions. But the answers would have to wait.

### Reader's Impressions & Star Rating

This chapter was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. The passion between Maya and Cassian was scorching—raw, desperate, and beautifully portrayed. You could feel their fear of separation and their craving for each other in every kiss, every whispered word. But the real punch came at the end. The revelation that Maya is a descendant of the Fairy Queen is a truly stunning twist that completely reframes her entire existence. It's both thrilling and heartbreaking, because it means no matter how much she loves him, the world may simply not allow them to be together. Fay, as usual, is an infuriating yet intriguing character, always holding a bigger secret. This chapter sets the stage for what promises to be a dramatic, gut-wrenching conflict ahead.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars**

### Next Chapter Prediction

Now that Maya knows she's a direct descendant of the Fairy Queen, she will likely confront her about the secret—demanding answers about her parentage, her power, and the true reason she was sent to the human realm. Cassian, meanwhile, will probably learn the truth from Maya himself, and his reaction could either strengthen their bond or drive a wedge between them. The Fairy Queen might even appear in person, forcing a confrontation that could turn this quiet conflict into a full-blown war—especially when she realizes Maya is willing to forsake her birthright for a human man named Cassian.
