The night before had wrapped April in a dream unlike any she had ever known. She found herself standing in a lush garden beneath an enormous tree, the air golden and gentle. A little girl with flowing brown hair and sparkling golden eyes chased a butterfly, her laughter ringing like music. Beside her stood Alessandro, his expression soft with joy as he watched the child play. The dream was so vivid, so tender, that when April opened her eyes the next morning, she lay still for a long moment, wondering if the vision had been a glimpse of something yet to come.
Beside her, Alessandro was still sleeping. His face had regained some of its color, though traces of exhaustion still clung to his features. Her heart softened at the sight of him. Quietly, she placed her hand over his chest and began to channel her magic into him, a gentle current of healing light meant to chase away the last shadows of his weariness.
Alessandro stirred. His eyes fluttered open, and he caught her hand in his.
"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice rough with sleep.
"You didn't look very well," April replied softly. "I infused my magic into you so you'd recover."
"I'm fine."
April smiled and reached up to stroke the rough stubble on his jaw. "The beard doesn't suit you."
"You hate it that much?"
"It's not that I hate it," she said, her eyes twinkling. "It just bothers me... and makes me a little uncomfortable when you kiss me."
She slipped out of bed, wrapped herself in a robe, and walked onto the balcony. The pale winter sun spilled its soft, silvery light over her, making her seem almost luminous, as if she herself were the source of that gentle glow. Alessandro watched her for a moment, captivated, before she turned and smiled at him.
"It's a beautiful day today. Why don't you come out to the balcony?"
He obeyed, pulling on his pants and wrapping a robe around himself before joining her. His arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her close, and he pressed his chin to her shoulder.
"I think your idea of a good day is wrong," he murmured.
"But it is a beautiful day."
"Of course it isn't. It's cold. The sun's rays don't warm enough."
"Well, for me, it's a beautiful day because I'm with you."
A moment of quiet passed between them. Then Alessandro's voice turned softer, almost hesitant. "Do you think we'll ever be together without anything threatening us?"
April leaned into him, her gaze drifting toward the snow-capped mountains in the distance. She thought of the dream she'd had, the little girl with golden eyes, the image of Alessandro smiling without a care in the world. She didn't know if it was a prophecy or merely a dream, but she wanted to hold onto that hope.
"I think so," she answered. "I couldn't tell you when, but I'm sure that one day we'll be together without any worries. And who knows? Maybe we'll even be surrounded by children."
Alessandro's arms tightened around her. "I would really love that. I wonder what our children would look like."
April recalled the girl from her dream and answered without hesitation. "Hmm... maybe she has white skin, straight brown hair, and golden eyes."
"Or maybe she has curly hair like you."
"Hmm... I don't think so. Something tells me she will look more like you than me. At least the first one."
"The first?"
"Yes. I think our first child will be a girl."
"Well, that doesn't matter," Alessandro said, his voice warm. "No matter what she looks like, we will love her with all our hearts."
"Yes, you're right about that."
Their quiet morning was interrupted by a knock on the door. Alessandro groaned. "It seems our time alone is over."
"We must prepare," April said softly.
Alessandro hated the thought of returning to his duties, because that meant separating from April. But he knew he could not neglect his responsibilities forever. He sighed heavily. "I guess we have no other choice."
April called out to Cassian. "Wait a moment. We'll open it soon."
She moved to the wardrobe and pulled out a soft pink dress, straight-cut and trimmed with delicate white decorations. Alessandro frowned when he saw how light the fabric was.
"We're still in winter. You should wear something warmer."
April hadn't felt cold since she woke up. On the contrary, a strange warmth seemed to surround her. But to ease his worry, she put the pink dress away and chose instead a deep green gown made of thick, warm fabric. She tied her hair into a high ponytail and said, "I'm ready."
Alessandro had finished changing as well. He opened the door to find his brother standing there, his expression clouded and uneasy. Something was clearly troubling him.
"What's wrong?" Alessandro asked.
"I spoke to Fay this morning, and..."
"What's wrong, Cassian? Why are you hesitating so much?"
"I told him that we accepted the alliance with the fairies. He seemed pleased with that... but he wants to leave immediately, and he wants April to accompany him."
"What?! That guy has gone completely crazy."
"I told him that was not possible, since April has only been awake for a day. But he said he could not continue waiting. He said either we accept his requests, or there will be no alliance. And if we take any longer, there will be no kingdom left to save."
Alessandro was about to respond, but April stepped forward. "Then there is no other choice. Tell him that I will go with him."
"Aby, you can't go with him."
"Lessan, I understand that you don't want us to separate. In reality, I wouldn't want to do it either. But what Fay says is true. If we continue postponing our help, there will be no one left to save. Everyone will be dead."
"Then I will go with you," Alessandro insisted. "I will not let you go alone."
"And what will happen to the kingdom? Cassian could—"
But Cassian interrupted. "I'm sorry, Lessan, but I will not continue taking care of the kingdom, or your obligations. Maya will also return to the land of fairies, and I will go with her. I have already abandoned her once. I could not do it a second time. I hope you understand."
Alessandro felt a pang of guilt. His brother had set aside his own love for Maya to help with the war, and now he could not ask for more. "I understand you, brother. Forgive me for even suggesting that you stay. Thank you for understanding."
April took Alessandro's hand and gave him a warm smile. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. I already defeated my father, who is very powerful. Defeating my brothers will be easy."
But Alessandro remembered the nightmares April's brothers had left him with. They had hurt her terribly in the past. "Are you sure about that? They caused you a lot of harm."
"I am no longer that helpless girl they bothered," she said, her voice firm. "I am strong and powerful. I will never tremble before them again."
Alessandro still hated the thought of letting her go alone. "Maybe I can give Gabriel a position in the palace and go together to face your brothers."
"Don't even try."
"Gabriel was just talking about you. I would like to—"
"No."
"But I haven't said anything yet."
"Your Majesty, right now the kingdom is going through a bad time. As king, you can't leave."
Alessandro wondered just how dire the kingdom's situation must be for even Gabriel to speak that way.
April repeated softly, "Lessan, I'll be fine. Stay here and take care of our kingdom. I'll be back soon. I promise."
"Okay, I'll stay. But promise me that you won't do anything reckless that will endanger your life."
"I promise."
Alessandro leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her lips, a gentle seal upon the promise between them. "I'll be waiting for you until you come back safe and sound."
"I will do so, my love."

Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:
This chapter is such a beautiful mix of tenderness and tension. The balcony scene between April and Alessandro felt so intimate — the playful banter, the dream of a future daughter, the quiet ache of knowing they might not have that peace yet. Their love feels real and grounded, but the looming threat of Fay's demand and April's dangerous brothers reminds us that their happiness is still fragile. I also felt for Cassian — he has sacrificed so much already, and his desire to follow Maya is deeply understandable. And April's growth shines here: she is no longer the helpless girl, but a powerful woman ready to face her past. The promise kiss at the end was heartbreakingly sweet. A wonderful, emotion-packed chapter.

Next Chapter Prediction:
April will soon set out with Fay, leaving Alessandro behind to guard the kingdom. But something tells me that the journey will be anything but simple. Fay's motives may not be entirely pure, and April's brothers will likely be waiting with traps and cruelty. I predict that as April faces the ghosts of her past, a shocking revelation about her brothers — or maybe even about the fairy alliance — will come to light, and Alessandro will be forced to make an impossible choice to protect her from afar.
