"I also hate having to separate from you just when we're back together," April confessed. "That's why I'll try to finish this as quickly as possible. And when I get back... we could start creating a child, don't you think?"
Alessandro's eyes widened with surprise. "Really?"
"Of course," April said, her smile growing. "I've already broken the last seal, so we don't have to worry about that anymore. We'll finally be able to have children and have a family. Wouldn't you like that?"
Alessandro hugged April tightly — so tightly that she felt as though he might crush her. But she was happy. Joy radiated from every part of her being.
"I'd love that," he whispered. "So don't take long. I want to start working on making a baby."
Before the moment could stretch any further, Fay began giving instructions to the group. "This portal will take us directly to the Land of Fairies. When we get to the other side, be careful with what you touch and what you eat — especially the latter."

"Cas, take care of April for me," Alessandro said firmly. "And make sure you don't do anything stupid."
"You don't have to say it," Cassian replied with a knowing look. "You were already thinking about doing it yourself."
Before stepping through the portal, Cassian paused and turned back to his brother. His expression softened with genuine gratitude.
"Alessan, thank you for accepting the alliance with the fairies. I know it wasn't easy for you, since you were forced to let April go even when you didn't want to."
"You don't have to thank me for that," Alessandro replied quietly. "It was actually April who asked for this alliance. I only have to respect her will."
"Still... thank you."
With that, Cassian crossed the portal, and the shimmering entrance closed behind him. The ancient tree returned to its ordinary appearance, as if nothing magical had ever happened there.
Alessandro touched the trunk of the tree and whispered into the silence, "Come back safe and sound, my love. I'll be waiting for you."

When Cassian reached the other side, his eyes immediately found Maya. He walked toward her, concern etched across his features.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yes," Maya replied automatically. "Are you okay?"
But the lie burned in her throat. She couldn't keep it in. "No," she finally admitted, the truth spilling out despite her efforts.
Cassian took Maya's hand, and she could see genuine worry reflected in his eyes. "Maya, what's wrong? Does something hurt?"
Maya didn't want to answer his question. Before he could press further, she leaned in and pressed a kiss to his lips. When she pulled back, she said, "It doesn't hurt anything."
Unable to lie, Cassian knew that Maya wasn't lying about that. But something still bothered him. There was a shadow in her eyes, a heaviness in her spirit that he couldn't quite name. He was about to ask her again when Fay's voice cut through the moment.
"Come on. The queen already knows that we have arrived. She is waiting for us."
Maya tugged Cassian's hand to get him moving. "Come on. It is not good to make the queen wait. She hates it, and it makes her angry."

"What is that?" Cassian asked, frowning.
"It's here, but at the same time, it's not."
"Your answer is even more ambiguous than the previous one."
"Well, it's something difficult to explain — and even more difficult to understand."
In truth, Maya herself didn't fully understand how it worked. Though it had been explained to her several times, it was something she had never been able to completely grasp.
"Let's say it's the queen's magic," she continued. "She can handle time as she pleases. That's why time here passes differently. She's using that power to hold back the war and its attacks. But I don't think it can remain that way forever."
"So the war hasn't started yet," Cassian concluded.
"Of course it has. Only right now, the war is in a kind of lethargy."

There were several winged horses — magnificent creatures of different colors: lilac, yellow, soft pink, turquoise, white, and brown. Their fur looked impossibly soft and silky, their feathers radiant and fluffy, catching the sunlight like precious gems.
April, being naturally curious, was the first to approach. She couldn't help but want to touch them.
But as she reached out toward the muzzle of a white horse, Ethan grabbed her hand, stopping her abruptly.
"Don't touch them," he warned. "It can be dangerous, Sophia."

Maya caressed her horse's nose gently and replied coolly, "If you don't want to ride them or not, that's your problem. But you'll have to travel these lands on foot alone if you don't — and you might even end up getting lost. So think about what you want to do."
