Chapter 1122:
If the Dawson family had even a shred of sense to leave her alone, she might—someday—return the Dawson Group’s shares once Bethel had lived out her years in peace. But if they kept provoking her, then they would get nothing.
“Christina…” Brendon’s voice turned wheedling. “Don’t be so harsh. Just let me inside. I just want one glass of water.” He tried to move past her, but Christina quickly blocked him.
In the next breath, he collapsed to the ground, clutching dramatically at his chest. He believed his little drama would definitely go his way.
Christina’s brows knit. Really? Pretending to faint now? She crossed her arms, staring at him coldly, unmoved. He could roll around in the dirt for all she cared. Just as she turned away, unwilling to play into his act, headlights swept across the driveway—a car was pulling in.
Christina narrowed her gaze. That was Leona’s car. Why had Leona and Naomi come back?
The car rolled to a stop, and Naomi lowered the window, her brow furrowed as she spotted a man sprawled on the ground. Why was there a guy lying there? Wasn’t this whole setup supposed to be a scam aimed at Christina?
Naomi completely forgot that not just anyone could stroll into this neighborhood. Curiosity got the better of her. “Christina, who’s that dude on the ground? Is he trying to scam you? What a shameless loser! Let me call the cops for you.”
Brendon, who was faking unconsciousness, clenched his jaw so hard he nearly cracked a tooth. To scam someone? Seriously? He was the CEO of Dawson Group, not some con artist. Who the hell was this woman—calling him shameless and threatening to call the police?
“There’s no need for the cops,” Christina said coolly, her lips quirking into a wicked smile. “If you really want to help, just run him over for me.”
If Naomi hadn’t caught the playful glint in Christina’s eye, she might have thought Christina was dead serious.
However, Brendon, lying on the ground, thought Christina meant it. Her voice carried an icy indifference and a hint of menace. Did she hate him that much? Would she really have someone crush him right here, right now? And that loudmouth woman—would she actually go through with it? Please don’t be that—

Still not moving, Brendon stayed frozen on the ground. Christina, growing impatient, shot a playful wink at Naomi.
Naomi caught the cue immediately. “Alright, then! Christina, you’ve done so much for me—consider this payback for your grand help.” She kept a totally straight face, acting like she was seriously about to run the guy over.
Leona, sitting in the back seat, knew the two were just messing around, but she couldn’t help getting nervous. What if Naomi went too far and actually ran the guy over?
Meanwhile, Naomi’s face held just a hint of a grin as she turned the key in the ignition. The engine roared to life. This was the first task Christina had entrusted to her, so she couldn’t afford to mess it up.
