Chapter 1125:

She didn’t realize her mother had already thought far ahead, laying the foundation for her future. A loving mother would go to any lengths to clear a path for her child’s happiness and success.

“I just want to see more of the world,” Leona said with a gentle smile.

“Naomi, your mom is looking out for you. The vast fortune of the Frazier family is in your hands, and many would plot to snatch your assets away. If the truth of your father’s death ever spreads, you…” Christina let her words trail off, letting the underlying meaning settle. Naomi would understand well enough. Wealth always had a way of attracting the greedy, who would rack their minds plotting to seize others’ fortunes. The world was never short of jealous or malicious hearts.

Naomi’s eyes quickly reddened, tears brimming as the weight of Christina’s words sank in. If someone schemed against her and the truth of her damned father’s death was exposed, it would ruin her mother. Though she loved the comfort of home and didn’t want to leave, she wanted nothing more than to protect her mother. The one person who loved her most in this world was her mom, and she was willing to go anywhere with her.

“Naomi, I’m sorry I have put us in this situation,” Leona whispered, self-reproach clouding her eyes.

“Mom.” Naomi clung to Leona tightly, tears slipping down her flushed cheeks. “You’ve done nothing wrong. You’re the one who loved me most, and I love you just as much.”

“Naomi, if you don’t want to leave the country, then we won’t,” Leona said softly. She alone had orchestrated her husband’s death under the guise of an accident. As long as she prepared another way out for Naomi in advance, Naomi would be fine. But if the day arrived that her involvement was exposed, she wouldn’t be able to be by Naomi’s side to guard her anymore.

Leona resolved that if Naomi wanted to stay home, she would stay too, no matter the risk. She would remain by Naomi’s side for as long as fate allowed. Perhaps, if nothing unexpected happened, she could be with Naomi for the rest of her life.

Hearing her mother’s words, Naomi wept even more fiercely. Her mom knew the dangers of staying home and that exposure would cost her life, yet for her sake, her mother still left the choice to her.

“Mom, let’s go abroad. Let’s leave this country,” Naomi sobbed. “As long as I’m with you, I’m satisfied. Mom, I love you.”

Naomi figured that at worst, when her mother had lived out her days in peace overseas, she would bring her mother’s ashes back to their homeland. Most

People longed to return to their roots, after all. She knew her mother didn’t want to leave the country if she had the choice, but her mother was willing to depart—for her sake.

Leona’s eyes, wet with unshed tears, overflowed at Naomi’s words. She couldn’t hold back anymore. “Naomi, my sweet girl, I am sorry for putting you through this,” she said, her voice breaking.

Naomi replied quickly, “Mom, please don’t say that. As long as you’re with me, I’m happy. A child with her mother is the luckiest of all.”
