Chapter 1276:
Her eyes darkened. “Don’t worry, every one of them will pay for what they’ve done.”
As Davina stepped into the light, she felt a gentle presence beside her—a woman’s figure, warm and kind, smiling with motherly affection.
A few days later.
At the Scott Group in Dorfield, Dylan had been working endlessly. Worn out and feverish from a bad cold, he could barely stand.
His head throbbed, and his vision swayed.
Seeing his pale face, Edwin spoke up with concern. “Mr. Scott, you should take it easy. You’ll collapse at this rate.”
But Dylan was driven by a single thought—he needed to see Christina.
He pushed through the last of his work and said curtly, “Get the car. We’re going to Jasgow.”
The moment he rose from his seat, his knees buckled. He stumbled forward, nearly falling.
“Mr. Scott!” Edwin shouted, rushing to catch him. “Are you alright?”
“I’m okay,” Dylan replied coldly, though his voice lacked strength.
Not convinced, Edwin reached out and pressed his hand to Dylan’s forehead. The heat shocked him.
“You’re burning up! You’ve got a serious fever. We need to get you to the hospital,” he said quickly.
“No need,” Dylan muttered.
“Then at least take some medicine,” Edwin urged.
“Just prepare the car,” Dylan said, his tone icy.
He couldn’t let the fever fade too soon—how else would he earn Christina’s sympathy? If he recovered too quickly, she wouldn’t worry about him.
Edwin, unaware of the little scheme, could only sigh inwardly. What a deep love Mr. Scott has for Christina, he thought. He never imagined that the ever-cool Dylan simply wanted to use his illness as an excuse to act pitiful and be pampered. The thought of such a man playing weak was almost unbelievable.

As the car sped along, Edwin kept glancing through the rearview mirror, his heart pounding with worry.
Dylan refused the fever pills, and Edwin didn’t dare push further.
Dylan and Edwin arrived in Jasgow.
“Mr. Scott,” Edwin called softly. No answer. His pulse quickened. “Mr. Scott!” he shouted again, louder this time.
Dylan stirred awake, startled.
“Are we there?” His voice was hoarse, his brows tightening as pain stabbed through his head.
“Yes, sir. But maybe we should head to the hospital first,” Edwin suggested carefully.
