The rain lashed against the windows of the abandoned warehouse where Lucas and Emelly had taken refuge. The air was thick with tension, their breaths shallow as they listened for any sign of pursuit. Emelly’s fingers trembled slightly as she clutched Lucas’s sleeve, her sharp mind racing through possible escape routes. “We can’t stay here,” Lucas murmured, his voice low but firm. His migraine, usually a relentless torment, was eerily absent—proof that her presence was his only solace.


Emelly nodded, her eyes scanning the dimly lit space. “There’s a service exit at the back. If we move now, we might slip past them.” Lucas’s jaw tightened. “And if we don’t?” She smirked, despite the danger. “Then I’ll just have to outsmart them again. It’s becoming a habit, isn’t it?” He exhaled sharply, torn between irritation and admiration. “You’re impossible.” “And yet, here you are, relying on me,” she shot back, her grin widening when he rolled his eyes. Before he could retort, the distant sound of footsteps sent them both into motion. They slipped through the shadows, Emelly’s memory guiding them flawlessly through the maze of crates and corridors. Just as they reached the exit, a figure blocked their path—Leo Brown’s most ruthless enforcer, his smirk dripping with malice. “Going somewhere?” he taunted. Emelly didn’t hesitate.


She grabbed a loose pipe from the ground and swung it with surprising force, catching the man off guard. Lucas seized the opportunity, delivering a sharp blow that sent him crumpling to the floor. “Remind me never to make you angry,” Lucas muttered as they bolted outside. Emelly laughed breathlessly. “Too late for that.”


Meanwhile, at York Group, Bruno Halthorn paced in front of Tony’s workstation, his expression stormy. The evidence of the hack was undeniable—traced directly to Tony’s login. “Explain this,” Bruno demanded, his voice dangerously calm. Tony’s hands clenched. “I didn’t do it. Bruno scoffed. Serritary, who had been silently observing, stepped forward. “Bruno, think about it. Tony’s been loyal for years. Why would he sabotage us now?” Bruno’s gaze flickered to her, his frustration warring with reason. “Then who?” Linda’s name hung unspoken in the air. Tony’s phone buzzed—a message from Linda. “Play along, or Emelly pays the price.” His stomach twisted. “I need air,” Tony muttered, pushing past them. Bruno watched him go, suspicion hardening his features. Serritary touched his arm. “There’s more to this.” He sighed. “I hope you’re right.” --- At a dimly lit café, Serritary confronted Tony, her sharp eyes missing nothing. “You’re hiding something.”


Tony hesitated before confessing Linda’s blackmail. Serritary’s lips thinned. “We need proof.” Tony exhaled shakily. “And if we don’t find it in time?” She smirked, a glint of mischief in her eyes. “Then we’ll make our own luck.”


Back at the safehouse, Lucas and Emelly finally caught their breath. Emelly’s fingers brushed his as she handed him a glass of water, and Lucas froze at the contact—his pain vanishing instantly. Emelly noticed, her cheeks warming. “Still works, huh?” He scowled, but there was no heat in it. “Don’t get smug.” She grinned. “Too late for that too.” Their moment was shattered by Lucas’s phone ringing—Bruno’s urgent voice on the line. “We have a problem. Linda’s making her move. And Tony’s gone rogue.” Lucas’s grip tightened. “We’re on our way.” Emelly met his gaze, the playful glint replaced by steely resolve. “Let’s finish this.”
