Standing outside Lewis & Co, Chelsea kept dialing Sonny's private number, but the line never went through.
"Why can't I get through to the kid?"
Chelsea had no idea that Sonny had blocked her number.
She had never managed to reach him before and always assumed Sonny was either busy or had no battery. It never once occurred to her that she might have been blocked.
Chelsea was Sonny's aunt. Sure, Sonny had never been particularly close to her since a young age, but it did not change the fact that they were family. As far as she was concerned, they were close relatives.
Sonny was just a CEO. Even if Sonny became a political candidate, he should never shy away from his aunt.
However, a security guard of Lewis & Co refused her entry, saying that she was not there for business, so she was not allowed in without an appointment.
The fact that she was Sonny's aunt fell on deaf ears.
Chelsea had to give Sonny a call, so he could come and get her. At least, she could show those security guards who was boss.
After multiple failed attempts of contacting Sonny, she gave up calling and told the security guard on duty, "I'm really Sonny's aunt. Look, we look alike. He's my only nephew. He's like a son to me."
The security guard replied curtly, "You don't resemble Mr. Brown at all. Mr. Brown is a looker. It's not our business whether you're his aunt or not. You can't enter."
They had strict instructions not to let Chelsea into the place. If Chelsea were to kick up a fuss, they would have cause to kick her out.
Sonny had zero obligation to play nice with Chelsea.
With her face burning with embarrassment, Chelsea yelled, “Are you blind? Sonny takes after me. It's natural for a nephew to resemble his aunt. He has always been close to me. I'm warning you. If you don't let me in, Sonny's going to fire you when he finds out."
Sonny was a spitting image of Liberty, not Hank. Of course, Sonny did not look the least bit like Chelsea.
The security guard snorted and paid her no mind.
They were only doing their job.
It did not take much to poke around and find out about the drama surrounding the Browns.
Sonny's parents divorced when he was two. Apparently, the divorce was due to an affair and favoritism in the family. Plus, Chelsea loved stirring drama, and the Browns ganged up on Liberty.
Liberty filed for divorce, unable to take the abuse, and custody of Sonny was awarded to her. Sonny grew up under the care of Liberty and Serenity.
At least Hank kept up with his monthly child support. Later, he saw the error of his ways and started treating Sonny right. The same could not be said about the rest of the family.
The whole thing about the Browns was no secret in the city.
Chelsea was the worst. Now that Sonny took over Duncan's company and acquired wealth and power, Chelsea had no shame in trying to leech off him.
Had Chelsea been kind, Sonny would never have turned his back on her.
Chelsea was free to run her mouth, but she was not getting into the office building.
Unfazed, Sonny went about his work.
About twenty minutes later, Hank reached Lewis & Co.
He was not joined by Olivia, but by Jessica.
Since Jessica got out, Hank took her in, and the couple lived a quiet, ordinary life. Hank was trying to live with a clear conscience, as the incident back then was not entirely Jessica's fault. He was the one who cheated in the first place.
