Lily was visibly distraught, her face flushed with frustration as she shouted in front of us. She told Grayson that she was not going to leave him, emphasizing that she had sacrificed so much over the years for their relationship. Her voice cracked with emotion as she expressed her disbelief that he was willing to let her go for some spoiled, rich girl.
Suddenly, another vehicle pulled up onto the driveway, catching our attention.
Nico got out of his car like he’d just come from a race track.
He took in Lily, Grayson, me, and actually smiled. I was confused by his reaction. There was absolutely nothing funny about this.
“Well, I’m certainly happy to run into you here.” He said directly to Lily.
I frowned.
Why exactly was he happy to see her?
“There is something I want to tell everyone.” He said as he turned to us. It was clear he had some announcement of a kind and it was possibly about Lily if he was glad that she was here.
Was he aware that his brother was dumping her right now?
Grayson did not take his eyes off Lily, like he was worried she would try to hit me again. “What is it?”
“I just got off the phone with one of the drivers.” Nico held up his own phone. “He sent me some very interesting photos of Lily.”
Interesting photos of Lily? What was he talking about?
“Photos of what?” Grayson asked with a frown.
“Apparently your childhood sweetheart has been sneaking around with Luca Vescari for years. On and off. While both of you were together. Hotel corridors. At his apartment. Not a one-time mistake. A rotation she kept whenever you were busy with your schedule.”
My eyes widened in surprise. Wow, I wasn’t expecting that at all. I had always believed Lily was genuinely devoted to Grayson, speaking so lovingly about him and expressing her desire to spend her entire life with him. But cheating? While they were still together? Before I even entered the picture and Grayson was forced to marry me? The unexpected betrayal left me with so many questions.
And still, she had the audacity to stand here and act like she’s been perfect throughout their relationship, despite the fact that she’s been cheating on him repeatedly. As Nico just mentioned, it wasn’t a one-time betrayal; she’s been engaging in these affairs frequently and without remorse.
Grayson turned to face her.

What was going through his mind right now?
“That’s a lie,” Lily snapped. Too fast.

Nico flipped the screen. Even from behind Grayson I saw enough. Her face. Another man I recognized as an Fl driver. The same name Nico mentioned before. He was popular and known for being an F-boy.
I couldn’t imagine how Grayson was feeling seeing those pictures. He trusted her.
He gazed at her intently for an extended moment, as if he were finally perceiving her truly for the first time. It was as though the woman he had loved and showered with affection for years was an illusion, a deceitful partner who had betrayed his trust.
“All this time I felt bad for hurting you,” he said. “All this time I felt like the biggest asshole because I couldn’t help but fall for Blair, thinking you were faithful and didn’t deserve any of this. Turns out you were never loyal to me.”
He ran a hand down his face and sighed. “I should be angry but truly, all I feel is relief. I can finally move on without feeling guilty. Thank you for that. You just made this a hell of a lot easier on me.”
She opened her mouth to say something, like she couldn’t find the right words.
Then came the shouting once more, voices raised in anger. This time, accusations were directed at Nico, claiming he had always desired her and was upset that she never returned his feelings. Nico responded with a laugh, dismissing the accusations as delusional.
Grayson lifted a hand. His security moved.
They forced her back to her car while she shouted that this was not over, that Grayson could never move on from her. That she would never allow it.
Security actually had to get into the car with her because she refused to drive. This was probably one of the worst breakups I’d ever seen in person before.
The courtyard went extremely quiet now that she was gone.
I could not believe it.
Lily was finally being removed from Grayson’s life for good. He had insisted that I was the only one for him, that he wanted me, not her. And he had made this decision even before he found out she was cheating on him during their relationship. He had already decided to cut her out of his life for my sake.
My heart was doing that strange flutter again. It was craving to give in-to tell him I loved him and couldn’t wait to start a family with him. But I was still wary of getting hurt all over again.
Nico muttered that he would send the files to Grayson and disappeared toward the house.
Grayson turned to me. “I am sorry you had to see that. I didn’t think she would come here today.”
I wondered if it was safe for my heart now. If I could truly give him a chance again. If Lily being gone was the same thing as the hurt being gone.

It was not. I still remembered everything. But if he kept this up, I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from letting the walls down and finally stepping back into his life for good.
