Chapter 150

I overheard them in the entrance.

Roman told Ethan he had to leave early. His parents were being a pain. They wanted him back to focus on practice for an upcoming game.

“Thanks for the invitation.”

That was it. Weekend over.

I stayed in the hall and listened while my heart squeezed tightly. I heard a bag zipper. I did not want him to leave earlier than planned. I still wanted more time to make him change his mind. It felt like if he left today, then things would return to normal between us.

I heard Ethan telling him to drive safe.

Eden bounced into me on purpose. The fake apology came with a smile.

“Sorry. Didn’t see you.”

I glared at her.

“I hope you didn’t have too much fun during your stay.” Her voice was fake. “I definitely did, with the little time I spent. And now I can’t wait to go home with Roman. Then back to see his parents. They adore me.”

I tried to ignore her. I was two seconds from grabbing her hair.

She wanted me to picture her in his car, in his house, in the life his parents had perfectly scheduled to include her in it.

“Eden,” Roman said. “Time to go.”

He did not look at me. He was looking at her, and there was an obvious edge to him. Would he return to his cold self? Pretending that he didn’t want anything to do with me again?

He did not say a word to me. Not a glance that lasted.

| Ethan was right there, walking them out, the good host, the best friend. Maybe that’s why he chose to ,pretend this weekend with me didn’t exist.

Roman seemed to be in a rush. Bag on his shoulder. Jaw tight. Whatever his parents had told him, it had put speed in his step.

I stood out of the doorway and watched him leave with her.

It hurt.

I couldn’t pretend I was okay as I looked out the window at them.

He acted like last night never even happened.

The car pulled down the drive.

ould see Eden’s profile in the window. Did she not come here with her own car?

I watched his hands on the wheel. Still no look back.

“What’s wrong with Roman?” I asked my brother, unable to stop myself from showing interest There wasn’t anything wrong with that question. He shouldn’t suspect my feelings from it.

He shrugged, “his parents are being a pain in the ass again. Apparently, he ignored them whole weekend/ He’s going to pay for that.”

I didn’t need an explanation. I knew how they were by now.

A few minutes later my phone buzzed.

I almost did not look. I thought it would be Blair. Or Tessa asking where the extra towels went.

But then I saw his name.

Sorry. I had to leave early. This isn’t over. I want another taste of your pussy tomorrow night before my game. For good luck.

I nearly dropped the phone.

Did Roman really send that?

My heart started racing.

I checked the number twice.

It was him. Definitely him.

My heart sped up so fast I had to sit on the bottom stair.

Heat flooded my face. The hurt from just now did not vanish. But I felt a lot better now. He didn’t plan on pretending I didn’t exist. He had to act just now because of my brother.

Tomorrow night. Before his game. His mouth. On me. I shivered at that thought.

He couldn’t look at me in front of Ethan, but at least he texted me that. I just wish he hadn’t left with Eden. It was a long drive back, and I didn’t want to imagine her touching him the entire way home.

Blair appeared at the top of the hall, took one look at me, and mouthed what. She could probably see the frustration on my face.

I locked the phone against my chest.

“He texted.”

Blair’s eyebrows went up. “And?”

“I am not repeating it in this hallway.”

She grinned anyway, happy and proud. “Good.”

id not feel like I had won anything.

I felt like I had been dismissed in person and claimed by text.

I still read the message again.

Tomorrow night.

Before his game.

For good luck.

He thought I was good luck for his game?

Blair sat on the stair above me. “He left with her. I know, you don’t have to explain anything.”

“And then he sent whatever is making your ears red.”

She bumped my shoulder. “He looked at you the entire volleyball game she spent hanging on his arm. Despite his parents being a pain in the ass, he’s still thinking about you.”

“Even though he’s suddenly thinking about me, she’s the one he’s going home with to meet his parents. She said that they adored her. And I believe her.”

Blair’s voice gentled. “Don’t take her words personally. She clearly sees you as a threat. Because Roman doesn’t hide well that he wants you.”

I stared at the empty driveway.

I already knew I was going to show up before his game. To give him what we both wanted. I bit my lip at the reminder of his mouth down there. Roman was so good at it. Too good.

I inwardly groaned. I was about to stay up all night thinking of him. And his mouth. And his big cock.
