Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 167 of "Forgotten Wife: Let the Traitors Kneel Down." This chapter is full of shadowy conspiracies, sleepless nights, and a magical breakthrough that could change everything. So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and let's dive into the story together.
---
The night was quiet, but not peaceful. Inside the grand office of Duke Vampel, the air was thick with the scent of wine and secrets. The duke sat alone, sipping his drink, when a shadow suddenly slipped into the room — no knock, no warning, no sound. It was Enzo, the prince of the kingdom of Laios. The duke immediately rose and bowed low.
"Prince Enzo, to what do I owe the honor of your visit?"
Enzo’s eyes were cold. "Did you do what I ordered you to do?"
"Yes," the duke replied, keeping his head low. "I carried the seed of darkness as I was ordered."
"Did you see my sister?"
"Yes. I didn’t feel anything when I saw her. I don’t think she has magic."
Enzo let out a short, dismissive breath. "I already imagined that."
He walked closer to the duke, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "Have you recruited an army as I ordered?"
The duke nodded. "I have gathered several mercenaries who are willing to betray the kingdom for a good amount of money."
"Keep recruiting more soldiers for your little army," Enzo commanded. "And make sure you keep a low profile. I wouldn’t want you to be discovered."
"I will do so, Prince Enzo. When will the attack be?"
"Soon. So you must be prepared."
A greedy flicker passed through the duke’s eyes. "Prince, when the kingdom is conquered, will I get my reward?"
Enzo smiled — a smile that did not reach his eyes. "Of course. If everything goes well, I will give you what you deserve."

Meanwhile, far away in the palace, midnight had settled over the halls like a heavy blanket. Alessandro walked to his room, hoping that sleep might take him, but he already knew the truth — without April beside him, sleep would be a stranger. He opened the door and froze. A shadowy figure stood in the darkness near his window.
His hand flew to his sword, but before he could draw it, the figure spoke.
"Your Majesty, do not attack me, please."
Alessandro recognized the voice. It was Taren.
"What are you doing here, Taren?" the king asked, tension still coiling in his shoulders.
"I have come to report something I discovered."
Alessandro lit a lamp, then sat on the sofa, his eyes fixed on his loyal spy. "Speak quickly."
"I have investigated Duke Vampel," Taren said, "and I found out that he has been hiring mercenaries. He has created a small army."
"Do you know if he has been in contact with anyone from the kingdom of Laios?"
"No, Your Majesty. I have not seen anyone enter his mansion, and Duke Vampel very rarely leaves his house. I have been watching him day and night, but I have not seen him having any secret meetings."
Alessandro's jaw tightened. "I see. I want you to infiltrate some of your men among the mercenaries and report their movements to me."
"I will do so."
Taren turned to leave, but Alessandro stopped him with one more warning. "Taren, be very careful. I am sure that Duke Vampel is related to the kingdom of Laios. He is a traitor. Do not do anything reckless."
"I will keep that in mind."
And then Taren was gone, swallowed by the shadows.
Alessandro lay down on the couch, but sleep refused to come. Instead, his mind drifted to April — what was she doing at this moment? Was she thinking about him? Did she miss him as much as he missed her? The thoughts wrapped around him like a fragile comfort, and slowly, his eyes closed.
But the night was not merciful. Terrible nightmares clawed at him — the kinds of nightmares that had tormented him before he ever slept beside April. He woke up drenched in cold sweat, gasping for air. He looked around wildly, his heart pounding, until his eyes recognized the familiar furnishings of his own room. Only then did he calm down. He took a deep breath and repeated to himself:
"You are in the palace. You are not on the battlefield. The war has not yet begun."
But in his heart, he knew — the war was already coming.

At the wizards’ tower, April had thrown herself into a different kind of battle. She spent her days memorizing every book about the principles of magic she could get her hands on, and she memorized spell after spell. But memorization was not enough. She wanted to feel the power flowing through her veins. So she went in search of Sirius.
One of the wizards told her she would find him in the north courtyard, supervising the novice mages. When April arrived, she was surprised to see that the "novices" were actually children — barely six or seven years old.
Sirius noticed her approach and walked over. "What are you doing here?"
"I was looking for you," she said.
"Do you have any questions you want me to clarify?"
"No, actually... I would like to start practicing using my magic. I have tried to do it on my own, but it has not gone very well."
Sirius glanced toward the children. "Right now I am with the novices. You can watch how they do it, and try to do the same as them."
"Sounds good to me."
April walked over to the children and introduced herself with a warm smile. "Hello, I'm Amara. I'll be here today. I hope I'm not a bother."
The children, curious and bright-eyed, introduced themselves one by one.
A blond boy spoke first. "Hello, Amara. I'm Liam."
Another boy with black hair and hazel eyes stepped forward. "I'm Teodor, but everyone calls me Teo."
A girl with brown hair and black eyes said, "I'm Latifa."
Then the smallest of them all, a girl with dark blond hair and blue eyes, said in a soft but proud voice, "My name is Nera."
After the introductions, Sirius clapped his hands. "Now that you've introduced yourselves, go back to what you were doing."
Liam was the first to resume. He raised a wooden wand high and recited the incantation with clear, focused intent:
"Crimson fire, may your flames be accurate and destroy whatever they touch."
A burst of fire erupted from his wand and struck a straw dummy ahead of him, reducing it to ashes in an instant. The other children followed, each using different objects to channel their magic and reciting their own incantations. April watched them, fascinated, as flames, sparks, and gusts of wind filled the courtyard.
When they finished, Sirius congratulated them and told them to keep practicing. Then he turned to April.
"All of these children have only recently awakened their magical power," he explained. "That is why they use incantations and objects to channel their magic. You could do the same, although you are not a wizard. You are a bearer of light, so you will need to create your own incantations."
April frowned thoughtfully. "And what words should I use?"
"You can use whatever you want," Sirius said. "Just make sure you express with them what you want your magic to do. If you want to heal someone, express that with your words. If you want to attack, you can do that too. Just put strength and conviction into your voice."
"But I don't have any object to channel my magic."
Sirius smiled. "You can use your hands. That's how Cassian makes his magic work. He touches a seed and makes a tree sprout, or he touches the ground directly. Magic is versatile — you can shape it however you want."
"Okay. I'll try."
April stood in front of one of the training dummies and closed her eyes. She searched deep within herself for the right words. She thought of Liam's fire — destructive, fierce, final. But she wanted something different. She wanted flames that would not burn away hope, but instead restore and protect. She opened her eyes and spoke with clear, firm intention:
"Purifying fire, from your flames cleanse and restore the body."
A silver light bloomed in her palm. Then, silver flames burst forth, wrapping around the dummy — not consuming it, not harming it at all. The flames shimmered like liquid moonlight, beautiful and strange, leaving the target untouched.
Nera had never seen flames like that before. Her eyes went wide with wonder, and she ran over to April.
"Those flames are beautiful! I've never seen flames like that."
Sirius looked at the silver flames with quiet approval. But then he raised his voice to the children. "Training is over for today. Return to the tower."
"But—" Nera started to protest.
"It's an order," Sirius said firmly. "Return to the tower."
Nera knew better than to disobey the owner of the tower. She bowed her head, and though she clearly wanted to stay and watch April's silver flames, she marched away with the other children.
April stood there, staring at her hands. For the first time, she had truly channeled her magic. And it had answered her — not with destruction, but with cleansing light.
But in the shadows of the kingdom, dark plans were already moving. And the silver flames would soon be tested in ways April could never have imagined.

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating**
This chapter was a masterclass in tension and hope weaving side by side. I loved the parallel between Alessandro's restless, nightmare-filled night and April's magical awakening — one is stuck in the dark while the other begins to shine. The conspiracy with Duke Vampel and Prince Enzo grows more menacing with every word, and I can feel the storm coming. The scene with the children was heartwarming, and Nera's fascination with April's silver flames was a beautiful touch. That final moment — April creating silver flames that cleanse rather than destroy — sent chills down my spine. This chapter was both gripping and emotionally rich.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.8 / 5 Stars
**Next Chapter Prediction**
Now that April has discovered her unique silver flames, I believe she will begin to unlock even deeper powers of light — powers that might be the only weapon strong enough to counter the "seed of darkness" planted by Prince Enzo. Meanwhile, Taren's infiltration of the mercenaries should bear fruit soon, and Alessandro might uncover direct evidence linking Duke Vampel to the kingdom of Laios. But the most dangerous question remains: when will Enzo strike? I predict the next chapter will bring the first real clash between the loyalists and the traitors — and April may be forced to leave the tower to fight alongside Alessandro once more.
