The silver flames danced before Sirius like living moonlight, casting no heat, no smoke, only a strange, ethereal glow. He stepped closer, mesmerized. He had seen Liam perform a miraculous act of fire magic before, and now, moved by some reckless hope, he tried to imitate it. He whispered the incantation he had heard: *"Purifying fire, may your flames cleanse and restore the body..."* Then he paused. *Wait, was it "restore" or "destroy"?* He fumbled, muddying the words.
He reached out and touched the flames. Nothing. They curled around his fingers like gentle silk, but they did not burn him, did not heal him, did not do anything at all. He pulled his hand back and sighed. "I guess I failed."
April, standing nearby with those sharp, knowing eyes, tilted her head. "I don't think so. But ... I didn't know you could use fire magic."
"I just did what you told me," Sirius replied, a hint of confusion in his voice.
That was when Sirius began to explain something crucial — a truth about the magical world that April had never fully understood. Wizards and magic wielders are not the same. A wizard can command all kinds of magic, but a magic wielder is bound to a single attribute — earth, water, air, or fire. No matter how many enchantments they learn, their nature stays locked. But April was the exception. Perhaps it was because she was half-elf, perhaps because of her father's bloodline. The Venobich family, after all, were known throughout the Kingdom of Laios for their fire magic.
April touched her red hair, a small, knowing smile curling her lips. "Like our red hair. That's what characterizes the Venobich royal family."
Sirius looked at her thoughtfully. "This makes me wonder what the limit of your magic will be — especially since you have not yet fully awakened your power."
April stared at her own hands, turning them over as if she could see the untapped storm within them. "I'm curious too, honestly. How strong will I be? How much can I help in this war?" Her voice softened. "I wonder if with this power, I can protect Alessandro. Though ... if possible, I don't want to break the last seal. I don't want to lose the part of my mother that lives inside me."
Sirius's expression grew gentle. "I'll help you master your magic as best I can, so you won't have to break that seal."
"Thank you, Sirius."
"I haven't done anything yet, and I can't guarantee you won't have to break it."
"I know." Her smile didn't waver. "But your intention is enough for me. That's why I thank you."

Two months passed like water slipping through fingers. April devoured every magic book in that tower — reading them once, memorizing them, making their secrets her own. She learned to control her magic with terrifying precision. She was a genius, a prodigy. What took others years, she conquered in mere weeks.
But genius could not cure a lonely heart.
One day, she stood at the tower's door, watching the distant road with restless eyes. Sirius approached her, curious. "What are you doing here?"
"I sent a letter to Lessan," she said. "I'm waiting for his answer."
"You always exchange letters. But why do you seem so anxious today?"
"I asked him if he could return to the palace. I've learned to control my magic now. There's nothing left for me in this place."
Then a messenger appeared on the horizon. April's heart leaped. She ran to meet him, her fingers practically trembling with hope.
"Where is my letter?"
The messenger looked apologetic. "I'm sorry, Miss Amara. I don't have a letter for you today."
"Are you sure? Check again. There must be one for me."
The postman searched his bag, his face falling. "I'm truly sorry, Miss Amara, but there's nothing for you. I only have a letter for the owner of the tower."
Sirius stepped forward and took the envelope. April's eyes caught the seal on the wax — the unmistakable crest of the Veriatte royal family. Her stomach dropped.
"Why has Lessan sent a letter to you and not to me?"
Sirius tucked the envelope into his cloak's pocket, his expression unreadable. "I think you're mistaken. This letter was not sent to me by him."
April's suspicion flared like a struck match. "I saw the seal. I'm sure it's from him."
"It's not."
"Then why did you hide it?"
" I didn't hide it. I just kept it."
"Show me what it says."
"I can't. It's confidential."
"You know who I am. If it's a state secret, I have the right to read it."
"I'm sorry, but I cannot reveal the content of this letter."
April's heart turned to stone. The pieces clicked together with brutal clarity. He doesn't want me to come back. That's why he hasn't answered my letters. He's probably forgotten me by now.
Sirius tried to soothe her. "I don't think that's the case. He loves you madly, I can assure you."
"Then why hasn't he come looking for me?"
"He wants you to prepare."
"I've prepared enough! I memorized every magic book in this tower. I learned to control my magic. What else does he want from me?"
Sirius had no answer. Because she was right. April was a genius, and he couldn't deny it.
"Maybe it's still not enough," he tried carefully. "You've only been here for two months. There are still many things you need to improve — for example, self-defense."
"What?" April blinked, stunned.
"Yes. You need to learn to defend yourself. The war is coming soon. Your magic is powerful, but..."
"Learning to control my magic doesn't count?"
"No. It works against monsters, but it's useless against humans."
"It's not completely useless," she protested, but even she knew the truth. Her magic healed. It nullified other magic. But against a blade or an arrow, it could do nothing.
Sirius pressed on. "You need to learn to fight."
April turned away, her heart aching. "I guess you're right. But I miss him, Sirius. I thought I could finally see him again."
She walked away slowly, each step heavy with the weight of unanswered questions. Does he miss me the way I miss him? Or does my absence mean nothing to him? She went to her room, hugged her pillow, and let the tears fall freely. She wondered if she would ever see him again — or if she would go back to being the forgotten wife she had once been, a woman discarded in the shadows of the palace.
In the quiet of her room, through tears, she whispered the words that carried all her desperate hope:
**"Lessan, please come find me."**

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**
Oh, this chapter cut deep. The contrast between April's incredible growth and her emotional starvation is painfully beautiful. She's become a force to be reckoned with — a genius of magic — yet all she truly wants is to be wanted. The mystery of Alessandro's letter, the secrecy, the cold silence, all of it creates a suffocating tension. And that final plea, whispered into a tear-soaked pillow, is the kind of heartbreak that stays with you long after reading. I ache for her. I want answers. I need to know what Alessandro is planning.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars

**Next Chapter Prediction:**
I predict that in the next chapter, Alessandro will finally appear — but not with tender words of reunion. Perhaps he has been orchestrating something in the shadows, keeping her away for reasons she cannot yet understand. That secret letter to Sirius likely contains a plan — maybe a dangerous mission, or a warning about the coming war. April's self-defense training may begin under Sirius, but she'll soon face a threat that makes her realize why Alessandro kept his distance. The next chapter might bring the first real clash between April's feelings and her duty — or perhaps her husband will finally step out of the shadows and surprise her.
