So, hold on tight, because this is a chapter where every spark could turn into an inferno.

Enzo had been watching his sister Cira all along, waiting for the perfect opening. He thought he was subtle, but a predator like Cira always notices when someone is staring too long. She turned to him with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes and asked if he was plotting something. Enzo, of course, lied through his teeth.

But Cira was not fooled. She laughed—a cold, hollow laugh—and stepped closer. The black aura radiating from her body felt like a living curse, dark and wicked, and Enzo couldn't help but shiver. Fear crawled up his spine, but he forced himself to keep his gaze steady. Cira’s warning was simple: “You’re alive because you’re useful to me. Don’t tempt me.”

Enzo stammered that he wasn’t up to anything, but Cira only smiled that terrifying smile and called herself “cautious, not paranoid.” It was a warning wrapped in poison, and Enzo knew that his sister wouldn’t hesitate to burn him alive if he ever became a burden.

Then a loud growl tore through the air. Cira turned, searching the distance. There she saw the Fairy Queen attacking her monstrous ally, and her usual calm cracked into pure annoyance. That damn woman was a nuisance. Why wouldn’t she just accept defeat? The war was already over—or so Cira believed.

But something else caught her attention. Her eyes snapped to another direction, and without a word, she launched herself through the darkness, riding a wave of shadow toward a new target. Enzo barely had time to react. He grabbed his horse and raced after her, confusion clawing at his heart. Cira wasn’t headed for the Fairy Queen. No—she was chasing something far more precious to her plans.

Ahead, two young figures were scrambling to escape a swarm of monsters. They were almost at the barrier protecting the fairies’ camp, nearly safe, when Cira landed in front of them like a black bolt of lightning. A wall of black flames erupted from the ground, cutting off their escape.

“Well, well. I think I found what I was looking for.”

Her voice dripped with satisfaction. She walked slowly toward the two fallen souls on the ground. Maya was unconscious—she had struck her head on a rock when she fell. Cassian crawled desperately to her side, cradling her in his arms, tapping her cheek, whispering her name over and over like a prayer.

“Maya, wake up. Open your eyes. Tell me you’re okay.”

But Cira was not here for tender reunions. She stepped closer to Cassian, studying him with those cold eyes. Even though this was their first meeting, Cassian recognized her instantly by her appearance. Cira Venobich—April’s sister. But there was something far darker wrapped inside that human skin. The shadows around her moved like living things, and Cassian’s instincts screamed that this woman was another kind of beast entirely.

“If you give me the key to the gate of Hades that is in your possession, maybe I will let you live.”

Cassian held Maya tighter, his gaze darting left and right, searching for an escape route. But there was none. The monsters were closing in, forming a tightening circle of teeth and claws. There was nowhere to run.

“Don’t even think about escaping,” Cira said, amusement curling her lips. “If you run, I’ll kill you and continue with my plan anyway. I’ll find the key from your ashes.”

“I don’t have it,” Cassian insisted.

“I know you don’t.” Cira’s smile widened. “But you know where it is. The key has been in your possession long enough to leave its aura imprinted on your body. You can’t hide that from me.”

Before Cassian could deny it again, a black fireball shot past him and Maya. It didn’t strike them, but the heat alone was enough to scorch their skin. Cassian winced, and his mind raced. He had to protect Maya. He had to survive.

“Think carefully about what you’re going to say,” Cira warned, her voice turning razor-sharp. “As you can see, I’m not a kind person. If you’re not useful to me, you’re garbage—and I throw garbage away.”

Another black fireball formed in her palm, and her crooked smile told him she was enjoying every second. “So. Where is the key?”

Meanwhile, Enzo fought his way toward the scene, but the mass of monsters blocked his path like an eager wall of flesh and fangs. He couldn’t reach his sister—but he could see her. And what he saw made him pause. Cira was completely focused on the terrified young man. Her mind was locked on her prey, her senses dulled to everything else.

*This is the perfect chance.*

With a surge of magic, Enzo acted. In that exact moment, he summoned April and placed her directly behind Cira, catching her completely off guard.

April had been swallowed by shadow, and for a moment, everything was dark. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Cassian holding Maya, and her sister Cira looming over them like a queen of death. There was no time to think, no time to plan. April threw a fireball with all her strength.

Her silver flame struck Cira’s back, burning a painful scar into her flesh. Cira screamed.

April darted toward Cassian and Maya, her heart pounding. “Are you okay?”

Cassian was stunned—April had appeared out of nowhere—but this was not the time for questions. “I’m fine, but Maya isn’t. She hit her head when we fell.”

April placed her hand on Maya’s forehead and whispered her healing magic. Maya’s eyes flickered open, and Cassian crushed her in a relieved embrace. For a few precious breaths, the three of them were safe.

But Cira’s fury filled the air like poisoned smoke. Seeing her own sister standing before her, the betrayer, the one she had always wanted to destroy, made her blood boil with black rage.

“Damn bitch! How dare you attack me?”

April turned, facing her sister. “Cira, stop. You will not win this war.”

Cira let out a guttural laugh. “I will not win? Look around you. My monsters surround all of you. If anyone loses this day, it will not be me.”

She began to walk forward, and with each step, dark energy bled into the earth. The grass withered beneath her feet, leaving a trail of black, cursed soil. Her eyes locked on April with murderous intent.

“I’ve always wanted to kill you,” Cira hissed. “But father never let me. Now that he’s dead, I am the queen of Laios. There is no one above me. So I’ll take your head as my trophy.”

Black flames roared to life in Cira’s hands. April answered with silver flames of her own.

Cassian watched in awe. The two sisters burn with fire, but their flames were as different as night and day—one held light, the other darkness. Without taking her eyes off Cira, April spoke to Cassian and Maya.

“Go.”

Cassian stood on unsteady legs and drew his sword. “I won’t go anywhere. I’ll fight alongside you.”

“No. This fight is between me and her. If you stay, you’ll only die.”

“But—”

“Cassian, please. Take Maya and leave. I’ll be fine.”

Cira laughed at their little argument. “It doesn’t matter if this scum stays or goes. His destiny won’t change. He’ll die anyway.”

April stepped forward, placing herself between Cassian and Cira, shielding him with her body. Her voice was firm but weary. “Cassian, go away. You’re in no condition to fight. If you stay, you’ll just distract me.”

Cassian’s pride took a blow. He knew she was right—he had injured his leg when they fell—but the truth still stung. He looked at Maya, who was still a little dazed, and gently helped her to her feet. Then he wrapped his arm around her, and gave April his final warning.

“Be very careful.”

April nodded, a soft smile flickering across her face. “Don’t worry. I’ll be fine. I don’t plan on losing—since your brother is waiting for my return.”

With that, Cassian carried Maya away, leaving April and Cira alone in the scorched battlefield, two sisters facing each other across a chasm of black fire and silver light.

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**

Wow. This chapter was intense from the very first line. Cira is a terrifying, magnetic villain—her cruelty feels real, and the way she corrupts the very ground she walks on is such a haunting image. Enzo’s fear of his sister added a wonderful layer of tension, and April’s sudden appearance was both shocking and satisfying. The contrast between the sisters—silver light versus black flames—was beautifully captured. Cassian’s refusal to leave, followed by his painful but logical retreat, shows incredible depth to his character. This chapter balances action, emotion, and dramatic irony perfectly.

**Next Chapter Prediction:**

Now that April is standing alone against her murderous sister, the next chapter is bound to be a blazing duel between the two. I predict we’ll see April pushed to her absolute limit—and maybe even discover a hidden power within her silver flames. There’s also a strong chance Enzo will finally choose a side and try to betray Cira from the shadows. Meanwhile, Cassian and Maya might stumble into an ally who can turn the tide—but will they reach April in time, or will the battlefield be covered in ash before help arrives?
