# Chapter 55: The Tables Are Turned

Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 55 of "The Housemaid" — a chapter that flips everything we thought we knew completely on its head. If you thought Millie was just a victim, think again. And if you thought Andrew was in control, well... strap in, because this is where the power shifts in the most satisfying and chilling way possible.

Three hours. That's how long Millie has given Andrew to sit in that attic room, with nothing but a pile of heavy books balanced on his most vulnerable parts. And as she sits on the couch downstairs, the television playing some mindless show she isn't even watching, her mind drifts to Nina.

All along, Millie believed Nina was the crazy one. The paranoid wife, the jealous woman who saw threats everywhere. But now? Now she doesn't know what to think. That pepper spray she found in the attic room — Nina must have left it there. Which means Nina suspected what Andrew was going to do. Which means Nina knew the kind of monster her husband truly was.

And that makes Millie wonder: was Nina ever really jealous? Or was it all just an act, a carefully crafted performance to make everyone see her as unstable so no one would believe her if she ever told the truth about Andrew? Millie still isn't entirely sure. Part of her wants to call Nina and ask. But she knows that wouldn't be wise.

Because she's been down this road before.

Kelsey. Her former best friend. The one she killed Duncan for. He was forcing himself on Kelsey, and Millie did what she had to do — she killed him to protect her friend. But Kelsey never spoke to her again. When Millie saw her afterward, Kelsey looked at her with disgust, like Millie was the monster. Nobody ever understood.

And it wasn't the first time. Mr. Cavanaugh, her teacher back in high school, had told her she was going to fail math unless she let him feel her up. When she slashed his tires in a fit of rage, she tried to explain it to her mother. But her mother didn't believe her. Nobody believed her. So she was shipped off to boarding school — and when she got in trouble there too, her family wiped their hands of her for good.

Then there was Kyle, the bartender. He kept grabbing her ass every chance he got, thinking he could get away with it. So one day, Millie spun around and slammed her fist into his nose. He didn't press charges because he was too embarrassed to admit a girl had beaten him up. But she lost her job anyway. And soon after that, she was living in her car.

The only person she can trust is herself. That's the lesson life has taught her, over and over again.

Millie yawns and turns off the television. It's been just over three hours, and Andrew hasn't budged from the floor. He's followed all the rules — every single one — even though he must be in agony. She takes her time walking up the steps to the top floor. She wants him to wait. She wants him to wonder.

When she reaches the attic door, she sees on her phone screen that Andrew has shoved the books off his genitals. He lies there on the floor, doubled over in pain, breathing hard.

"Andrew?" she says.

"What?" His voice is sharp, angry.

"How are you feeling?"

"How do you think I'm feeling?" he hisses. "Let me out of here, you bitch."

And there it is. The mask is gone. The charming, sophisticated, perfectly put-together Andrew Winchester has vanished. What's left is just a desperate, furious man who is used to being in control — and is discovering, for the first time, what it feels like to be at someone else's mercy.

He doesn't seem nearly as calm and smug as he was last time she was here. Good.

Millie leans against the door, watching his face on her screen. "I really don't appreciate swearing. I would've thought since you're counting on me to help you, you could be a little nicer."

"Let. Me. Out." He sits up on the floor, cradling his head in his hands. "I swear to God, Millie. If you don't let me out right now, I'm going to kill you."

He says it so casually. Like it's nothing. Like killing a woman is just another task on his to-do list. Millie stares at the screen of her phone, wondering how many other women have been in this room. How many of them sat in this exact spot, terrified, waiting for whatever Andrew had planned for them. She wonders if any of them died in this room.

It seems entirely possible.

"Relax," she says. "I'm going to let you out."

"Good."

"Just not yet."

"Millie..." he growls, and she can hear the desperation creeping into his voice. "I did exactly what you said. Three hours."

"Three hours?" She raises her eyebrows even though he can't see them. "I'm sorry if you heard three hours. I actually said five hours. So I'm afraid you're going to have to start over."

"Five..." The full-color display on her phone lets her see exactly how his face blanches at those words. He's terrified. "I can't do that. I can't do five more hours. Come on. You've got to let me out of here. This game is over."

"This isn't a negotiation, Andrew," she says patiently. "If you want to get out of this room, you're going to keep those books on your junk for the next five hours. The choice is yours."

And now comes the part that really shows Andrew for who he is. "Millie. Millie." His breathing is jagged, uneven. "Look, there is always room to negotiate. What do you want? I'll give you money. I'll give you a million dollars right now if you let me out of this room. How about that?"

"No."

"Two million."

It's easy for him to offer money he has no intention of ever giving her. Easy for him to promise riches when he thinks he'll never have to deliver. Millie isn't fooled. "I'm afraid not. I'm going to go to bed now, but maybe in the morning I'll see you again."

"Millie, be reasonable!" His voice breaks. "At least I left you with some water. Can't I have some water?"

"I'm afraid not," she says, and the words are sweet and cold. "Maybe next time, you should leave the girl you lock in the room with more water, so some will be left for you."

With those words, she walks down the hallway as he screams her name. The sound follows her like a ghost, but she doesn't stop. She doesn't look back.

When she reaches the bedroom, she pulls out her phone and types one search query:

*How long can a person live without water?*

## Reader's Impressions & Star Rating

Oh my goodness. This chapter is everything. The way we've watched Millie transform from a frightened housemaid into the one holding all the cards — it's absolutely gripping. Her backstory broke my heart. The way she's been failed by so many people — her mother, Kelsey, the system — and yet she still found the strength to fight back. And now she's doing it for all the women who came before her, all the women Andrew has hurt. The cold satisfaction of watching Andrew beg and offer money he'll never actually give (because let's be honest, he thinks he can just buy his way out of everything) is pure poetic justice. And that final Google search? Chilling. Millie is playing a long game, and Andrew has no idea what's coming for him.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rating: 5 / 5 Stars

## Next Chapter Prediction

Millie is going to let Andrew suffer for a while longer — maybe even overnight — while she decides his fate. But I suspect this isn't just about making him uncomfortable. She's thinking bigger. That search about how long someone can live without water suggests she's planning something far more sinister. And let's not forget Nina is still out there, and Enzo is still lurking in the background. I predict the next chapter will show Millie preparing for Andrew's final punishment — and possibly forcing a confession out of him about what he did to Nina and all the other women before her. The question is: will she let him live, or will this house claim another victim? Either way, Andrew Winchester is about to learn that the woman he locked in that attic room was never just a housemaid.
