# Chapter 57: The Tooth

Hello everyone, it's me again! How are you all doing? Today I will continue to walk with you and review Chapter 57 of "The Housemaid" — and let me tell you, this chapter is an absolute gut-punch. We find Millie waking up in the guest bedroom, and the tension is already thick enough to choke on. She reaches for Andrew's phone first thing in the morning, and the moment the camera app opens, my heart was pounding right along with hers.

The attic room jumps into focus on the screen, and Millie's blood runs cold. Andrew isn't there anymore. The room is deathly still. Empty. Her mind spirals in an instant — where is he? How did he get out? Is there some failsafe escape button she didn't know about? Her eyes dart frantically around the bedroom, searching for him lurking in the shadows, and when a bird suddenly moves past the window, she nearly has a heart attack. I felt that panic in my own chest, let me tell you.

But then—slowly—something shifts on the screen. Andrew is in the room after all, hidden so completely under the covers on his cot that she'd missed him entirely. The relief is brief, though, because the reality of what she's done settles in. Andrew endured the weight of those books on his groin for five agonizing hours. Five hours of grimacing and suffering. And she promised to let him out. A deal is a deal.

Millie takes her sweet time preparing herself. A long, hot shower melts the tension from her neck, and she knows exactly what comes next. She's ready. She dresses casually — a comfortable T-shirt, jeans, dirty-blond hair pulled back into a ponytail. Andrew's phone slides into one pocket. And from the garage, she's grabbed something from his own tool kit. A pair of pliers, tucked away in her other pocket. Oh, that detail sent a shiver down my spine.

She climbs the creaky attic steps carefully, having memorized which boards groan and which stay silent. The second step. The top step. She knows exactly where to place her feet. When she reaches the top, she raps on the door and watches his phone screen for a reaction. Nothing. Worry prickles at her neck — twelve hours without water. Is he unconscious? What happens then?

But then Andrew stirs. He struggles into a sitting position, rubbing his eyes with the balls of his hands. Millie announces herself, and the camera catches him staring directly at the lens. She shivers, imagining what he would do to her if she opened that door. Drag her in by her ponytail. Make her do horrible things. Maybe never let her out. The menace radiates off the page.

Andrew rises unsteadily and collapses against the door. "I did it. Let me out."

Yeah. Right.

And here's where Millie's brilliant, cruel mind shines. She tells him the video feed didn't record overnight. Frustrating, right? So he'll just have to prove his endurance again. His face turns bright pink — and it isn't from yesterday's pepper spray. "I'm not doing it again," he growls. "You need to let me out right now, Millie. I'm not joking around."

Millie's response is ice-cold: "I'm going to let you out. Just not yet."

Andrew steps back, staring at the door. Then again. And again. And then he runs. He rams his body at the door with everything he's got, and the wood shakes on its hinges but doesn't budge. He backs up to try again, and Millie calmly tells him there's just one other thing he needs to do.

"Fuck you. I don't believe you."

He charges again. The door shakes but refuses to splinter. The house is well-built, you see, and the hinges are on his side, making it nearly impossible for him to break through from within. He's already dehydrated, breathing hard, his face redder than before. He doesn't have it in him anymore.

"What do you want me to do?" he finally manages.

And then comes the moment that made my stomach drop. Millie pulls out the pliers and slides them under the gap beneath the door. Andrew picks them up, frowning in confusion. He doesn't understand. And when Millie explains — all he has to do to get out is pull out one of his teeth — the sheer horror of it hits like a freight train.

Andrew throws the pliers on the floor. "You're joking. There's no way. I'm not doing that."

Millie's reply is chilling in its simplicity: "I think that another few hours without water and you might feel differently."

He tries the door one last time. He runs at it, rams it, shakes it, but it won't move. Then he draws back a fist and slams it against the wood, howling in pain. I couldn't help but wince — Millie even notes that at her old bar, a drunk guy once broke a bone in his hand punching a wall. Andrew might have done the same. He would have been better off just pulling the tooth.

"Let me out!" he screams. "Let me out of this fucking room right now!"

But Millie just repeats herself, calm and unyielding: "You know what you have to do."

And then it happens. Broken, dehydrated, in agony, Andrew falls to his knees, cradling his injured hand. With his left hand, he picks up the pliers from the floor. He brings them to his mouth. Millie can't bear to watch — she closes her eyes.

The howl that follows is primal. It's the same sound Duncan made when she brought that paperweight down on his skull. When Millie opens her eyes, Andrew is still on his knees, bawling like a little baby. He's willing to rip his own teeth out just to escape this room.

And here's the kicker, the line that left me breathless: *He has no idea this is just the beginning.*

**Reader's Impressions & Star Rating:**

This chapter is absolutely relentless. The psychological warfare Millie is waging is both terrifying and mesmerizing to witness. She's not just punishing Andrew — she's breaking him down piece by piece, tooth by tooth, proving to herself that it was never really about the endurance challenges. It's about power. It's about him finally understanding how it feels to be trapped, helpless, and desperate. Freida McFadden has crafted a scene that's nearly impossible to read without feeling sick to your stomach.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rating: 4.9 / 5 Stars

**Next Chapter Prediction:**

I think we're about to see Millie's plan truly unfold. Andrew has now crossed his first threshold of degradation, but something tells me she has a long list of "one more things" waiting for him. And now that Andrew has willingly pulled out a tooth, he's proven he's completely broken — which means the next test could force him into something even darker. Maybe she's planning to extract a confession from him, or maybe she's gathering evidence for the police or for Enzo. Either way, Andrew is dancing on the edge of complete destruction, and I just know the next chapter is going to push him right over. I literally cannot wait to find out what other hell Millie has in store.
