The York Group’s boardroom was a storm of tension, papers strewn across the table as Lucas York leaned over the polished surface, his knuckles white against the wood. His migraine pulsed behind his temples—until a familiar warmth brushed his arm. Emelly Clus, ever the reluctant savior, had "accidentally" nudged him while reaching for a file. The pain vanished instantly, but neither acknowledged it. "You’re blocking my notes," she muttered, tugging a folder from beneath his elbow. Lucas didn’t move. Bruno choked on his water. The banter shattered when Tony’s phone buzzed. His face paled. "Leo’s press conference starts in ten minutes. He’s announcing a takeover bid."


Lucas was already striding for the door. Emelly grabbed his wrist—both ignored the jolt between them. "You can’t storm in there. He’ll spin it as desperation." "Then what’s your genius plan?" She grinned. "We give him a show he can’t air."
