Nick laughed. His hands were doing that thing where they sought out Eli’s just for fun, to push
and pull and get their fingers all tangled up. “Sorry I’m not some troglodyte who rolls out of bed
and leaves it looking like a bird’s nest.”
Eli kissed him on the underside of his jaw. “Sorry I’m going to mess up your perfect hospital
corners.” He pulled at the hem of Nick’s sweater, shoving it up his torso. “Take this thing off,
would you?”
He’d seen Nick naked a thousand times when they were dating as teens. But here, in the warm
light of Nick’s bedroom, it was all so new. There was softness around his middle these days, a
softness Eli shared. There was that crisp trail of hair leading down from his navel to disappear
into his jeans. His brown nipples. Ugh, his shoulders; Eli had always had a weakness for those
shoulders. He went up on tiptoe, hands at Nick’s waist, and pressed his mouth to the curve of
one of them.
“Um, hey.” Nick’s voice in his ear was quiet. “Before this gets any further along, do you want to
give me, like… rules?”
Eli was too blissed out on licking a line up to Nick’s neck to translate all that into something that
made sense. “What d’you mean?” he murmured.

“I mean it’s been a while. Since the two of us last—got together like this. Are there things I
should know? Dos and don’ts?”
