Second Chances in New Port Stephen - Chapter 55

Eli was very glad his face was hidden against Nick’s neck because he was sure his eyes were
boggling at this wild-ass offer. “Uh, that’s very accommodating of you, but I didn’t bring my
strap. Doesn’t exactly fit in my back pocket.” He hadn’t even packed it for his trip home, since
he’d doubted he’d get a chance to use it.
Nick pulled back with a self-conscious shake of his head. “Right. Of course. I was just putting it
out there. I am legitimately fine with whatever.”
“Fine! Great. Get your dick out.” Eli’s hands went to Nick’s belt.
Nick’s hands met them there. “I’d like to know what I’m going to be doing with it first,” he said.
“Really? You want to negotiate every detail before we get naked?” Eli rolled his eyes. “Why can’t
we just… see what happens? Like when we were teenagers.”
“When we were teenagers, we fumbled through sex because we didn’t know any fucking
better.” Nick frowned. “Did you even enjoy it?”
“Yes! Yeah.” Eli looked into the middle distance, remembering bits and pieces. Everything he’d
done at that age had a patina of wrongness hanging over it, but that hadn’t been exclusive to
Nick. “I think so.”
Nick looked absolutely crushed, his brows folding downward. “You think?”
“I don’t know! My memory isn’t the most reliable, right? I remember liking parts of it.” He liked
feeling desired. He liked the way Nick had looked at him— kind of similar to how he was looking
at him now, minus the grave concern. He gave up on Nick’s belt and put his hands to Nick’s hot
cheeks instead, framing his face. “I liked you.”
Loved. That was the word. He’d loved Nick. In that teenage way he’d loved his cat and his Sony
Discman and all the other simple pleasures of life. But also in the “I’ve known you forever and
there’s nothing more I want to do than make
you laugh” kind of way. That feeling had never gone away; it had just lain dormant, waiting for
Nick to come back into his life.
Probably shouldn’t get into that right now.

He slipped his hands down to Nick’s chest. His heart was beating so fast. His eyes were so dark.
“I don’t want to mess this up,” Nick said, quiet and slow. His hands came to Eli’s waist.
“You won’t.” Eli pressed a kiss to his sad lips. “You can’t.”
Nick made a disbelieving huffing sound. “I absolutely can.”
“No, false, incorrect.” Eli shook his head. “Because we’re going to make each other feel good.”
He reached for Nick’s belt again, slow this time, with an eyebrow raised in question. When Nick
didn’t resist, he started unthreading the leather with patient movements. “We’re going to kiss
some more—a lot more, because you’re really good at that—then we’re going to mess up that
super-neat bed of yours—”
“Making your bed in the morning is normal. I don’t know why I’m under attack for this.”
“Whatever, let’s table that for now. We’re going to get comfortable,” Eli said, whooshing Nick’s
belt out of his belt loops, “and we’re going to blow each other. Sound like a plan?” The belt hit
the carpet with a thud.
